The 3 or 4 people that constantly try to yell instructions to the players and coaches. Sit back, shut up and enjoy the game. I know this post will do no good. Those idiots probably don't read.

If the score is lopsided...like 6 TD's to 0. You think a coach will get on the bus with his team and say HEY BOYS! Don't worry. The fact they scored 6 TD's and we didn't even sniff a first down or the endzone is irrelevant. Good job! IRRELEVANT? You kidding me?

Well actually LE approaches the whole season that way. Scrimmages are used to evaluate players and scoring is not stressed . Non District games are used to prepare for district. Looking at what works and what doesn't . District is what we play. You will never see an undefeated Leopard team. We play to make the playoffs.

That coaches get too much of the credit and too much of the blame. When push comes to shove, it's about talent and numbers in high school (at least most of the time).
However, coaches who prepare their teams during the week can make a difference in crucial situations ... a tight game, or when everyone's tired, or in exploiting the other team's weakness.

1. Injuries. I know it’s a part of the game, but I hate the number of injuries we see in football.
2. The win at all cost attitude. A kid gets arrested for robbery, spends most of the season in some sort of confinement, and then is miraculously free to play in the playoffs? This after his coach throws a game to get in the “right” division.
3. Teams that openly recruit players. We have a “commuter” school next door and any player who is good has been approached by the guys next door. The beauty of small town Texas football is kids that grow up in your community get to represent you on Friday nights. Why can’t we live with what our kids can do? Is winning so important that we have to recruit?
4. I hate people that claim to love the game when all they really love is their own team. Leave the game to the kids and honor all the kids and the game, win or lose.

It is called ... Dress for success.

Probably a little different here because y'all West Texas schools usually have pretty "man-sized" trips for away games! Generally, our regular season games are all within 50 miles and even the playoff games don't get too far away till the 3rd round or so. The fans I'm talking about are usually older women who couldn't pick out a football in a lineup of kitchen appliances and just gab about pointless crap throughout the game, throwing in the occasional "Oh we don't look too good!" when we are up by five touchdowns!

Sweetwater Red

What I hate about football is the head coaches who have kids that they favor and let them play befire someone they know is better than them just because their mom/father bribes them into doing stuff.

What happened to letting the best player play? I guess that went out the window a long time ago as I have seen the scenario mulitiple times.

I agree with you completely trg. I hate to see anyone being disrespectful during the National Anthem. There are soldiers on foreign battelfields right now that are dying for this country. The least we can do is show respect during the playing of the anthem.

Amen. Can we just line'em up and shootem? I always say shootem all and let God sort'em out. I am ex mil and I love my country. I miss a lot of the mil traditions. We would go to the base theater and for a buck see a movie. Before every movie, the Flag and the National Anthem were paraded and we stood and saluted. I still sing the song. I wish others understood only a parcel of the history of this fine country and that for which it stands.

That was mostly in jest or tongue in cheek. However I do believe the definition of american means you love this country flaws and all. If not you ain't. You can agree to disagree on every count save one. The greatness of this country that gives you that right.

I can understand your viewpoint but some of us older people are on fixed income and can't afford to go out of town plus there could be health issues. A few years ago I went out of town to everything by myself but now that I have got older circumstances mostly limit me to in town games and events.

In Cuero it is the opposite. (Sorry Cuero frieinds but it is the case unless it has changed the pase several years.) They don't have enough seats on the home side so many of them sit on the visitors' side. Don't get me wrong - they are nice and respectful but Cuero needs a bigger home side for their fans.

The thing I don't like about Division 1 and 2 is that a school with 600 can be the biggest school in 2 or the smallest one in 1. Also due to the setup you have teams with over 700 students getting in 2 while one with about 600 are in 1.
