COLLEGE STATION — Burnet quarterback Stephen McGee was surrounded by friends, family and autograph-seekers at midfield.

It was the only time McGee felt pressure from an unruly crowd all afternoon. He certainly had no trouble picking apart Jasper's exasperated secondary.

McGee, whose blockers gave him ample time to throw, completed 25 of 38 passes for 341 yards and five touchdowns as Burnet manhandled Jasper 46-28 in the state playoffs Saturday at Kyle Field.

Many of the 10,000 green-clad Burnet fans rushed the field as the final seconds ticked off the clock.

Burnet Coach Bob Shipley, after gathering his players in a huddle for the presentation of the semifinals trophy, said the season will not be complete without one more prize.

Burnet will face the winner of Saturday night's Forney-Everman game in the Class 3A state championship game next week. It will be Burnet's first appearance in the title game since losing the championship in 1991.

"If people don't believe in you now, they're going to believe in you when you guys win the state championship!" Shipley shouted to his Bulldogs.

If McGee was the game's pivotal player, no one played with more desire than receiver Jordan Shipley, the coach's son. The junior playmaker, who had a toenail removed from his big right toe last week, has played with a sprained foot for two weeks.

Shipley missed much of the game after aggravating the sprain in the second quarter, but contributed 13 catches for 220 yards and two touchdowns.

The McGee-to-Shipley combination has helped lock up a 14-0 season record.

"There's not a quarterback I'd rather have than Stephen McGee," Bob Shipley said. "Jordan knows what I want because we've played together so long. They make adjustments that people don't notice and have been a pretty successful duo."

Jasper (11-3) entered the game riding four consecutive shutouts. It took Burnet 90 seconds to score its first touchdown, and the Bulldogs crossed the end zone six times by halftime. Bob Shipley said his team's mission was to exploit Jasper's secondary, which looked vulnerable on game tapes.

Jasper rallied in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 40-21 on a 28-yard touchdown run by James McQueen. Jasper (also called the Bulldogs) had a chance to cut the lead to 12 late in the third quarter, but Burnet defensive back Cody Warner intercepted a Rodriguez Mitchell pass and returned it 58 yards.

Warner's interception set up Burnet's final score, a short touchdown run by running back Patrick Miller, who led all rushers with 130 yards.

Miller scored on a 41-yard run to open the game, and tight end Mason Templeton caught a 6-yard touchdown pass to increase the lead to 12-0.

The real stars of the half, though, were McGee and Shipley. McGee passed for 266 yards at halftime, and Shipley caught 10 passes for 198 yards, including touchdown receptions of 44 and 28 yards in the second quarter.

Shipley suffered an injury after catching a 32-yard pass to set up Burnet's final score of the half. The receiver was caught from behind at the 4 with 3:26 to go in the period and did not return until late in the third quarter.

About 30 minutes after the game, Burnet players were still signing autographs.

Lineman Thomas Ham said the Burnet community has enjoyed the unbeaten season. "Those people are already going insane," he said.

Other games:

Smithson Valley 28, San Antonio Madison 27: Smithson Valley (13-1) survived a late bid by San Antonio Madison (11-3) at the Alamodome to move into the Class 5A Division II state semifinals against Katy.

Madison, ranked No. 1 in 5A in midseason, made a bid for an overtime period when Jacob Gutierrez scored from 10 yards out with 3 minutes 45 seconds to play. But Brandon Logan, who had converted three previous extra points, missed in a bid for a 28-28 tie, and Smithson Valley, playing its first season in 5A, advanced.

Bandera 31, Yoakum 14: Bandera (11-3), the third-place finisher in District 25-3A behind Burnet and Liberty Hill, used Dustin Heep's 336 rushing yards to dominate Yoakum (11-3) in a Class 3A Division II state quarterfinals contest at Seguin. The Bulldogs will face the Marlin-Bellville winner in the semifinals next week. Heep scored the game's first three touchdowns as Bandera broke out to a 24-0 lead in the first 13 minutes of the game.
