Andrew's folks, how do the Mustangs look this year and how did the first scrimmage go?

I like the title to this one.

can we get this thread re-named due to the fact that I am going to laugh everytime I see this thread because someone actually thinks that Andrews is the real mustangs?

I was standing behind two Andrews fans that
made the trip to Sweetwater to watch us against
Midland Christian this morning. I asked the older
guy if MC was on their non-district schedule and
he said yes. Which led me to think what self
respecting 3A program would schedule MC.

Apparently ya'll did or the Andrews fans wouldn't have been there to watch MC.

The title to this thread is laughable. And secondly, who cares about Andrews?!?!

Andrews has got to do lots of winning for several years before even thinking about claiming to be the "real Mustangs" again.
The once upon a long time ago proud Andrews Mustangs havent done anything good on a football field in so long, I cant even remember the last real good team they had. Lets see how they do now.

This coming from an Andrews fan who's team
hasn't had jack since Shaud Williams? When was
that 199? what?

After Shaud Williams and the '98 team, Andrews was beaten in bi-district in '99 by Stephenville, and was beaten in the 3rd round by Southlake Carroll in '00 & '01. This is when they were 4-A. I believe in '04, they had an undefeated season and were beaten in bi-district. To my knowledge, they have not done anything since then. Who did Andrews scrimmage this past weekend and how did they do? How did the other 3A teams of the area do also?

Hey WOS....what year was it that Sweetwater and WOS met for the state championship??

I want to say 1989 or 1990?

WOS1

Never... Sweetwater won the 1985 4A state title and WOS won 86 and 87. That was back when men were men and each classification had only one state title.;)

the last time Andrews was good was my senior year....it was fall of 03, and we played them in Andrews...they had that 6' 3" 230 lbs QB which gave our defense fusses all night....alot of us in that class truly believe thats the only time we lost because the other team was simply better...they were strong and fast...aaaaannd weeks later like 5 of them give or take got caught with cocaine use before games.......but anyways, that was the last time they were good cuz I watched them the next year in the bowl and they were GARBAGE

I was at that game in O3 in Andrews. If I remember
correctly, their WR's were a lot taller than our
corners and the passed all over us to the tune
of 38-7.

LewP you are thinking of the fall of '87. I was at
the semi-final game at Amon Carter Stadium
when we lost 13-7 to Rockwall. Rockwall went
on to lose in the SC to W0-S. That is the closest
we have ever came to playing them.

WOS1

I thought we had came close to playing at one time, but I couldn't remember for sure.

Blah blah blah WOS1. If Stark was in 2-3a this year
there would be a good chance that they wouldn't
even make the playoffs. :D

On a side note: I've noticed that no Ingleside posters
have chimed in. It's good that they know their place
on the 3A football food chain.

Not a chance! WOS would run the table and make all the other 2-3A teams look soooo bad that they would not be allowed to participate in the state playoffs for their own safety.:D

I'll let you slide with that for the next 12 or 13 games. Then we'll need to re-negotiate...;)

We came one game away from it. You guys lost to Rockwall in the '87 Semis and we beat Rockwall in the '87 Finals. Had you won that game we would have met for the championship.

Oops... just saw the same info already posted. Would be nice to play a team west of I-35 which I don't think we ever have.

Oh wait... Kerrville Tivy x 2, New Braunfels and Wimberley
