Congrats to the McAlister Park (San Antonio) team - Good Luck in Williamsport......... Great Season Bridge City LL..........

Little story about the McAlister Park LL - Many years ago, when little 44 was on the 12 year old All Stars - the sectional tourney was being held in Cuero (our complex's had just been completed that year) anyway - as luck would have it, it rained for about 3 days before the games were to begin and then it continued to rain during the early part of the tourney. The games HAD to be played within a time frame. The baseball fields were totally saturated. Coaches, players, dads (and moms) were working feverishly doing whatever possible to dry the in-fields enough to play - putting massive amounts of kitty litter out, using shop vacs lol.. you name it. One of the McAlister Park dads knew somebody with a helicopter and he called them and they flew the helicopter into Cuero and it hovered it over the field to help dry it out....... That was something I never thought I'd see :D Shortly after that, the skies turned blue, the sun came out and the fields dried up. I think we played games until 2am one night.......... I can still remember that helicopter hovering over the field like it was yesterday. :p

That was a very entertaining game! Congrats to the San Antonio team, they'll represent Texas well. Bridge City made one heck of a run, congrats to those young men also, they overcame tremendous odds to go that far!

On another note, 44INAROW's story of the helicopter drying the field makes me wonder just how many fields have had that done. I've heard that same story many times about many different fields!

Great season BC and congrats to SA.It looked like not being able to score with two on and no outs...then SA has a big inning to take the lead got to the BC kids.They just looked so down when they came to the plate in the 5th.Just remember all you Bc kids,not many 12 year olds will ever get as close to going to the LLWS as you have.Hold your heads up because we are proud of you.

Sorry about the loss Bridge City. I saw some of the game last night and those kids have nothing to be ashamed of. They each have a bright future in front of them. Good Luck to those kids and God Bless.:)
