Don't know if anybody has posted this already but there are some good ones on this list. Athough #1 I don't get. Hunnington Beach has an oil field right on the beach so of course they are the Oilers. The Atom Smashers and Nimrods :D

Problem is, the kids that go to that school have never heard Def Leppard, thus no real appreciation for the nickname:(

I knew there had to be some strange mascots when you get outside of Texas, but acorns, kernals and kewpies?

Yuma High School (Arizona) are the Criminals (after the old prison) they are the only team in the united states with that mascot name.

Are the Robstown cotton pickers the only ones in America? I don't know how they even get away with that name anyways.

I can only assume that YOU are stereotyping cotton picking to a particular race. Which one, I'm honestly not sure.

I come from a long line of Cotton Pickers, as do a lot of folks from West Texas. I've heard many a story at the supper table from my dad of his days of "pullin' boles", as we enjoyed our BEANS and cornbread.

I went to Jasper for three years...home of the Bulldogs. Pretty standard, right? Well, I left for the Denver area after my junior year.

Then I went to Gateway High...home of the Olympians. Can't believe they didn't get that one on the list. It's unique and very dumb. Dominant colors were yellow and orange with black being a distant third. Needless to say, we didn't intimidate many people...

Yeah, when you graduate from Yuma High you become an "ex-con". My brother was stationed out there when he was in the Marine Corps, and told me the story.

My granddad use to pick cotton when he was young in Hill Co. and Stephens Co. He made 50 cents a day. And shook peanuts as a kid.
