I like the rankings.

Carthage, Burnet, Liberty Hill, Rusk, Tatum, Pittsburg, Navasota, Farmersville, Libert Eylau, & Tyler Chapel Hill. Nothing against these teams but they have difficult 1st games and could start the season with a L.

Farmersville top 20? He must be using LHPM's POOH ranking.

Somebody ought to compare the pre-season predictions over the last 10 or 20 years and oppose them with the final outcomes. I dig this time of year and look forward to the predictions but am curious how all the pre-season rankings turned out over the years.

My Silsbee Tigers in at #10, #4 in Region III. NICE!!!!

Looking at the teams in Region III, Silsbee is the highest rated Div. I team as long as Gilmer and Carthage go Div. II like they should.

Could be a banner year for the Tigers.

West Columbia #13 in Region 4.

Everyone has said Needville will challenge Sweeny for the District title along with Brookshire Royal.

So where are Needville and Brookshire Royal?

Besides Giddings, D25 not getting a lot of respect. Bellville went 12-2 last season & returns plenty of talent. Not sure how they could have so many teams with poor 2008 records ranked ahead of the Brahmas? La Grange & Sealy should be top 25 teams.

LH ranked 20? should be more like 50

sealy should be repping RIVq
in the semis this year

Looks like WO-S has a tough schedule in their future (yet again) what with 4A Nederland, Brookshire Royal, Silsbee, 2A Kirbyville and Jasper as scheduled regular season opponents and the potential to face Gilmer in Playoff rd #3 and possibly Carthage after that.....

Best scrimmage looks to be Celina v. Lovejoy #2 v. #11 in the state #1 v. #2 in the region! Come out week from tommorow for the annual QB Club BBQ scrimmage eat some good BBQ and watch some good football.

I assume this will be in Celina but do you have a time?

Yes, it is in Celina. Your admission gets you a full plate of BBQ brisket, beans, potato salad, banana pudding and ice tea. We have 3 JV teams, so first scrimmages usually start about 4 or 4:30. Not sure the exact time the varsity will start but I would guess 7 or 7:30.

That's the main thing I hated when we moved into 9-3A no BBQ at the Celina scrimmage. I may have to drive over just for a plate. (and maybe a little scrimmage)

20th may be wishful this year. My feeling is that this year LH will win their share of games and could win district. Beyond that, who knows. I believe that next year will be their return. Although this group of kids has done pretty well all the way through JV.

I'm thinking Homer Bryce again. Homer Bryce holds 15,300. TMF/Rose only holds about 10,000. Remember the last state championship game at Homer Bryce? There was an overflow crowd, people on the hills, along the fences, in the walkways at the ends, etc. I got there 3 hours early and barely got a seat. I would hazard a guess there were in excess of 18,000 there. With that kind of attendence, we may have to opt for a bigger stadium. First things first, we have to get there, though! I agree with you on NO Floyd Casey! That place sucks!

Haha.........not to mention it's just slightly closer to Liberty Hill.:D I don't think it's big enough, either. The Jasper/Gilmer championship game had approximately 18,000 in attendance, but if it's that far away from East Texas, it probably wouldn't need to hold more than 7 to 8,000 of our fans. The further away, the fewer bandwagon fans we'll have in attendence.;) I would LOVE to see a rematch, though! First things first, though. Let's just get there......:) I wouldn't care if we played in a pasture if we just got there...;)

Yeah, but he did have us as the presason #1 in 2005. So, I'll give
him a pass. We might have finished the season at #1 if it wouldn't
have been for stupid Tatum. :D

Not any crazier than putting Lovejoy ahead of Farmersville who demolished them last season...........The Farmers are returning basically their entire team from last season that was just 2 bad plays away from going 8-2 on the season.
Do you have insight that I may have missed?

Why no Sweetwater?

Do you really think by the end of the year, a storied program like Sweetwater won't be in the Top 25?

I saw that....hmmmm....I dunno...dont misunderstand me, I am 100% behind the Texans, but the age and experience of the team doesnt really peak for another year or two. No one would be more pleased to see us end the season in the top 10...but I gotta be honest, I think thats an awfully tall order sitting here today. I base my opinion on experience...I will do the happy dance if we can go far this year...of course a State Championship would make me even more happy...but so would winning the lottery.

In other words, I consider this a building year towards a State Championship in the next 2 years.
