guy was a monster, just a brick house. 900+squat, deadlift, 700+ lb bench press. too bad injurys started getting the best of him. glad he retired as a cowboy after spending his last 2 seasons with the 49ers, gotta love those 1 day contracts.

Allen was chosen as a member of the NFL’S All-Decade Team for the 1990’s. Also, he has been widely recognized as one of the NFL’s best offensive linemen. In his 13 seasons in the National Football League, he has been named to the Pro Bowl 11 times, including his last as a 49er in 2006. He has also been named All-Pro eight times, seven times at guard (1995-1997, 1999-2001) and once at tackle (1998). With his Pro Bowl selection at tackle in 1998, he became just the third player in league history to be selected to the Pro Bowl at more than one offensive line position during his career, joining Bruce Matthews of the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans (guard/center) and Chris Hinton of the Atlanta Falcons/Indianapolis Colts/Minnesota Vikings (guard/tackle). He has played all but one position along the offensive line in his 11 seasons in Dallas, moving between right tackle (1994), right guard (1995-1997), left tackle (1997-1998) and left guard (1999-2003). With a career-best assisted bench press of 700 pounds and an unwitnessed squat lift of 905 pounds, Allen is also considered to be the strongest man to ever play professional football.

[edit] Personal

Allen participated in the Dallas Cowboys offensive line’s support of The Rise School of Dallas with the "First Downs for Down Syndrome" project. In fall 2001, the entire offensive line helped paint a Dallas Cowboys Pegasus with children from The Rise School.

He is also married to his wife, Janelle. And they have two daughters, Jayla and Loriana, and one son, Larry, Jr.

He is set to coach football at Valley Christian Senior High next year in Dublin, California with fellow retired players John Parrella, Josh Taves, and Rod Woodson.

ha ask Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery if that is true

In all truthfulness, he caught a linebacker who probably weighed no more than 30 pounds less than him, had a head start considering he was 15 yards closer to the endzone than him, and he took a good angle.. Aikman would have caught him too and we all know how well Aikman could run.. Not impressed at all

They did not take Roids to get faster...roids itself does not make you faster or stronger or anything supernatural

It allows your body to recover quicker and easier from injuries and hardcore working out. So the only way someone gets faster while on roids is because there bodies are already in program DESIGNED to increases speed and the roids allows their body to recover at a faster rate and I truly doubt Allen was in a workout program designed to make him run faster

Bitter that he didn't do much when he played for the Iggles maybe.

He never played for the Eagles.. I've seen linemen make that play 1,000,000 times.. Allen was good and probably has a pretty good highlight reel but this play really isn't that great and isn't impressive at all when you look and see what really happened

You can say what you want about the angles and how far he was from the play etc., but anytime a 330 pound offensive lineman puts out that much effort and shows that much desire to chase down a defender, it IS impressive. Most lineman would run toward the sideline to be close to the bench when the play was over or just keep on blocking thier man until the paly was so far gone they could forget chasing.

Allen was one of the real O-lineman that took pride in his size, speed, and ability and did his job.

By the way, Allen was 330 pounds and I don't know of any teams with 280-300 lb LB's so he probably ran down a guy about 70-80 pounds lighter.

The fact that you would show disrespect for a play that got both the announcers and fans on their feet and excited shows that either you don't know what you're talking about or dislike the Cowboys so much you can't give praise even when well deserved. The fact that "everyone" except you was impressed leads me to believe you are probably immature, misinformed and spiteful.
