Zapata Complete Football History (1966-2009)

Zapata is one of only three current 3A programs to have actually competed in 5A varsity football competition, as they opted to play up a classification from 1994-1999 to decrease travel expenses despite having an enrollment in the low range of 4A. Dallas Roosevelt and West Orange-Stark are the only other two current 3A programs to have competed in 5A since its inception in 1980.
