Yes, east of Allen along HWY 5. They will go 4A upon realignment....but of course the UIL, in their infinite wisdom says that they cannot "project" enrollment. They had 848 with 2 classes in high school and rising 8th graders. This type of stuff gripes my ass. They should have opened as a 4A.

Yes it is but they show up with kids who played at Allen so it isn't as if the kids had no experience. The kids in that district had gone to Allen until the Lovejoy school opened. Their girls vb team won state this year too.

Not sure but I am sure they have a website. They will go 4A next year (where they should be). They will be competing this year with about 1200 students. I disagree with you on one thing, not impressive. It is sanctioned cheating because of their size. We see the same thing with Frisco schools...UIL sanctioned cheating.

Bryan Rudder will also be over the enrollment numbers as well..

As you can tell, I have a very strong opinion about this sort of thing.

No so sure they will be 4A next year. I am hearing they turned in a number less than 975.

Everyone hates a winner, unless Everyone is doing the winning...they will likely be 3A for the next 2 years also...if they aren't there will be a bunch of folks moving up to 4A along with them...

Be happy for them, nice new program starting out so well, what's the big deal?

FYI, their VB team has won the last two state titles in 3A...

Lovejoy will not got 4A next year unless they lower the cut off number. Your figures are wrong. The 848 number that was turned in during the last realignment was an estimate, or a guess, as to how many students they would have IF they had FOUR grades. They basically took the number of kids in the school at the time (9 and 10 graders) and doubled it.

There's no cheating going on. We are currently about 30 students under the cutoff for 4A and I'm sure we will eventually go up. Don't hate on a young program that has earned their success. Yes, Lovejoy is by far the biggest school in a weak district, but their playoff run in football and the volleyball titles are very much earned.

hate for this to be my first post but always amazed at people that think they understand how the numbers work from the UIL when they dont have a clue......Lovejoy opened up 3A varsity sports with only a freshmen and sophmore class but the number next to their name in the standings is a PROJECTED NUMBER, not the actual number, i.e., UIL projects as if they had 4 classes already so two years ago that number was a projected number with the actual number of students being about half or barely enough to play 3A. Even so, the volleyball team made the playoffs in 2007 with only freshmen and sophmores. In 2008, in the first varsity season of football with no seniors they made the playoffs with an enrollment way under the 3A max, Baseball also made the playoffs and volleyball won state with no senior players on teh team. In 2009, with Lovejoy's first senior class, their enrollment number is still under the cap for 3A, the volleyball team won state again, football went to the semis for big 3A and was 8 seconds away from the finals and I predict baseball makes a state championship run as well. Lovejoy will stay 3A for two more years at least.
