After Tim Thomas made such a big deal out of the White man Dirk not being able to "school" him a few years back, now they are teammates.

Thomas is a 6'10" forward that will provide an inexpensive source of 3 point shooting for the Mavs. Along with Jet, Thomas can light it up from outside. He (Thomas) is coming off his best year shooting from 3 point range in 2008-2009. Considering that Dallas was one of the worst 3 point shooting teams in the NBA last year, he fills a need.

Along with Drew Gooden, the Mavs are quietly filling the bottom end of their bench with upgrades (Gooden is better than Bass/Singleton and Thomas is better than Devan George). These players also come with expiring contracts that will be very valuable trade assets next february.

While their recent moves are not flashy, the Mavs are upgrading their rotation (with more depth) and are preparing for the trade deadline/2010 free agency.
