I nearly had to swim to my truck this morning! Yes, it has rained a lot. I think you probably got a little more out your way, lostaussie. I think we've gotten a little over 5 inches total so far at my house, not including today's totals.

Real proud for the rain some of you are getting, but keep us in central and south Texas in mind................We are being listed as in an "exceptional" drought area still. The stats are starting to match what happened during the 1950's and that went on for nearly 7 years. The bigger lakes are calculated at less than 50% capacity and serious restrictions are going to be imposed soon. If any of you ever fished on Buchanan and have not seen it lately, you would not believe it..........it's very sad indeed.

I was watching Good Morning America this morning and they were showing Lake Travis. The guy reporting said where he was standing he would normally be about 30' under water!

We were debating going to the river again this year, I had no idea SA hadn't had any rain.

Ruidoso is sounding better and better!:D

Not to mention the folks in Gilmer and Carthage are under a tornado watch as well until 3:00.

I went fishing last weekend at Lake Murvaul near Carthage and got a nice little storm that moved over us while we were there with some good rain, and that's the only rain I've seen. I think I need to go back to East TX.

just think how low Buchanan and Travis would be if they had not been recieving rain in West Texas. Here in central Tx we have already been in drought conditions for 7 of the last 9 years.

anyone remember the summer of 1990 or 1991 when it rained in longview for something like two weeks?

or the summer of 1999 (i think) when it was 100+ degrees for more than 100 consecutive days

I don't get it! What does have West Texas getting rain have to do with Buchanan or Travis?

I love the rain but I am tired of the wind and the lightning. I am tired of working every evening when I could be home watching the Rangers.

Rains in west tx feed some of the rivers that feed ino the colorado. Like the Llano river.

BTW, I hear thunder in the distance. Sounds like our 24-hour drought is about to be broken.

You are correct. But C City lake has to fill up and go around the spillway for much to go down river. I dont know if it's going over the spillway or not right now. And there may be another lake or two on the river above C City.

A lot of West Texas rain runs into the Brazos.

No storms please. Just rain. Could be another long night.
