This may be too difficult a question. It is from a song in the sixties that was played a lot by the country music radio stations. I need help in either naming the song or the artist. It has been years since I heard it.

It basically is about a cowboy that gets in a jam and he gets help from many famous western people including Doc Holiday, Billy the Kid. His lyrics when they resue him is that "I would have been in a bind if they hadn't shown up when they did" or similar to that. In the last part of the song he gets to be alone to make a movie with a beautiful woman but sure enough he says Doc Holiday, Bill the Kid show up and he ends the song with "I would have done all right if they hadn't shown up when they did."

It was a witty song but maybe someone can help. I know it could be a stumper but I had to try.

Could it be "Cowboy Convention" by The Ohio Express?

Here are the lyrics...

I was riding the prairie
When out of the blue I could see
There were two dozen Indians
Starting to close up on me
There was no place I could run
And I never carry a gun
So I cried for help

Chorus:
And along came Hop-Along-Cassidy,
Maverick, and Billy The Kidd
I'd have been lost if they hadn't
Shown up like they did
And there was even Doc Holiday,
Buffalo Bill, Jesse James
And three hundred cavalry
But I can't remember their names

I was safe in my cabin
And thinking of going to bed
When an Indian tomahawk
Stuck in the wall by my head
I looked through the window and saw
There were three thousand Indians or more
So I cried for help

(Chorus)

But one day I was caught and
Was taken to see Running Bear
But we got on so well that
He told me that I could stay there
And according to Indian law
I could have me a choice of a squaw
I needed no help

But along came Hop-Along-Cassidy,
Maverick, and Billy The Kidd
I'd have been fine if they hadn't
Shown up but they did
And there was even Doc Holiday,
Buffalo Bill, Jesse James
And three hundred cavalry
But I can't remember their names

How about "You and Me and a Dog Named Boo" by Lobo, not exactly country.

You and Me and a Dog Named Boo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fgGNZYR5QM)

Or "O'l Red" by Blake Shelton
