I still have to sort out the 1932 Season but for the most part the history is complete...

Also, I'm not sure what happened in 1971 that they only played a JV schedule. The 1970 varsity schedule appears to have been cut short for some reason as well and I'm still looking for the reason why.

A few interesting facts:

From 1947-1955 La Vega went 41-0-1 in district games, winning the district title and advancing to the playoffs 8 consecutive years from '48-'55. That's quite an achievement during the "one team per district advancing to the playoffs" era. That's only 3 less than the all-time record for consecutive playoff appearances prior to 1982 which was 11 consecutive years by Gregory-Portland from '69-'80.

La Vega is now 2-1 all-time against Brownwood, as I had forgotten that they had played in both 1961 and 1962 with La Vega winning 7-6 in '61 (Brownwood's only loss that season) and Brownwood winning 41-0 in '62.

La Vega is also 5-1 all-time against Stephenville, albeit all games were played way before Sville hit it big in the 1990's, but there are still few teams that can claim an equivalent record against them.

One correction in my intro above... Gregory-Portland's all-time record for consecutive years making the playoffs is actually 12 consecutive years from 1969-1980.... but that takes nothing away from the 8 consecutive that La Vega had.

A federal desegregation court order led to the closing of G.W. Carver High School in 1970, integrating Carver with La Vega.

That was done after the start of football (practice, I know, maybe games)

Carver would have been in La Vega's district that year, so that's one game.

I'm unsure about 1971, but combining two 3A schools (which would probably be 4A now) made La Vega a large school. And at one point that year, the desegregation order shifted some students to the Waco ISD.

I would bet that is what led to discrepancies in the schedules, but don't know for sure.

my guess with the years involved...it might be related to intergration.

89 win over Navasota.......touchy....inadverted whistle brought back a long qb...option keep.

Brownwood and LaVega are tied in the series at 2-2. Not LaVega 2-1.

If you look at the date of the original post you will see that it was on 7/24/2009 (BEFORE you guys played this year). It was 2-1 at the time.
