Mickey Spagnola phoned in a quick Cowboys Stadium update for those attending Sunday’s World Football Challenge match:

Workers have been diligently planting sod for the real-grass surface to be used this weekend, and it sounds like the field could be completed by the end of the day. The Chelsea and Club America teams are expected to practice at the stadium this weekend.

Looks pretty cool from the pictures I’ve seen, and that’s not exactly a quick turnaround considering the CONCACAF quarterfinal matches were played on a synthetic surface just last Sunday.

The Cowboys will play on an NFL football-style turf beginning with their preseason home opener against Tennessee Aug. 21.

I was down there yesterday while the grass was being installed. Jerry Jones was out there walking on it. Maybe he'll realize his mistake and leave the real grass in there.
