How long have your coaches been at your school?

How long have your current coaches been at your school? Many coaches are moving around alot, grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, but it seems like the top programs have consistent staffs. I know Celina, Liberty Hill, Ab. Wylie, Gilmer, China Spring and many others have coaches who stay there. I'm not talking about the head coach but assistants from the coordinators all the way to the JH staff. What are some of the most experienced staffs at their current school?

Well, a few have been there 10+years... 2 are new this year I think.


And our HC has been our HC for the past 2 seasons but was our DC for 6 before that I think.


The main coordinators have all been at our HS for the better part or 8-10 I think.

Our head coach, Jeff Traylor graduated from Gilmer in '86, came back home in 2000. He brought several coaches with him.....I'm thinking 4 or 5. As far as I know, at least 3 of those originals coaches he brought with hime are still here, along with 3 or 4 that were hired since. Jeff's record as a head coach (2000-2008, 9 seasons), all at Gilmer, is 97-17. Not bad when you consider that he had 10 losses in his first 3 years as head coach.

25 years for Calallen. He's getting the field named after him this year.

We have a JH coach that I'm thinking has been here his whole coaching career, or at least close to it, and he's around 60.


The assistants - I think there's 1, maybe 2, that have been here longer than Coach Vance.

Our HC at Goldthwaite has been here his whole career, since 1981.
He's been the HC since 1986.
There's not any in 1A thats been the HC longer and probably not many in other classes.

This will be the 29th year for Coach Hooks at WO-S and several other coaches have been there since the early '80's as well

I think Hugh Sandifer has been at Wylie since the late 70s. I foget when he became the head coach, but he will be there until he's ready to leave.

Coach Rogers has been in Snyder 8 or 9 years. He has 3 or 4 of his original coaches.
