I can agree with that.

Only problem I had with XP was that my dad looked at too much porn and crashed the whole thing. Lost everything, blah blah blah.

My Vista crashed within a year of me buying it. The fan went out and burned the hard drive up, so I probably can't blame the os for that.

regardless, i like XP much more than Vista. i'm hoping windows 7 is way better.

HA... Each to their own..I had never even touched a MAC until last Nov.. My PC laptop died in a security "mishap" (flipped off the belt at the LAX airport) so I was forced to replace. Bought a Macbook Pro, and a mini for back up. I do a lot of video editing and internet work.

Took about a month to figure out all the MAC had to offer, and a HUGE learning curve.. The programs on the MAC are scarce and expensive. For my needs, the MAC rocks! Final Cut Pro cut my editing in half..

IMO if you just surf the net and check e-mail, then stick with a Windows based unit. They are much less expensive, but then again, they don't run as smooth.

My mini is small and serves it's purpose. Since I travel, I and have an air card, to surf and check e-mail, but for my needs it is lame vs the Mac

For video editing and image editing, Mac is the standard. Our video rendering at church was cut about 75-80% by going with a Mac.

My last roommate and I both bought new laptops a week apart from eachother about 2 years ago, he bought a pretty good priced hp, I bought a mac.. Two years later his hp moves the speed of a turtle, crashes constantly, riddled by spyware, can't hold a battery charge for more than 45 minutes, and has trouble connecting to the Internet sometimes.. Meanwhile, my mac looks a little beat up on the outside but runs almost as good as new.. If I'm running a bunch of programs it slows up some but nothing to complain about.. For that reason, I will always buy macs.. It's not just my roommates pc either, my mom and girlfriend have newer computers than mine too that are considerably slower than mine and have problems with adware and crashing..

Macs are a bit pricey but a good investment.. Pc people who think otherwise are often just people bitter their pc is crap and they didn't get a mac

Macs kick PCs butts. Let's see, how many viruses has my Macs had? That would be zero in 19 years. And that's without a virus protection. My PCs, it's a constant battle against viruses and that's with virus protection

I've never had a virus and I put myself in position to get a lot of them(from downloading music)

I owned a PC for a little over a year and it crashed so I was forced to replace it. I bought a macbook and have had it for 2 years and is running like it was the day I got it. A good portion of those complaints are about how much money the mac and it's accessories cost, but to me it's worth it because mac's are far superior to PC, IMO.

I agree with the MAC supporters. They run so much smoother than the PC.. Wish I would have known this sooner

The first computer I ever learned on was a MAC...and that was 17 years ago. About 5 years later we upgraded (downgraded in my opinion) to PC's.

If I could afford one, I would buy one. But I can't rationalize it for the downlow and facebook...lol!!

I am getting a new HP with Vista in about two weeks and it comes with a free upgrade to windows 7 in October when it comes out. Its at a really good price too. I just hope this one works better than the Dell one I got last year with Vista that I ended up getting a refund on since it didn't work for crap! That one only had 2 GB Memory this has 4GB of memory and 320GB Hard Drive. All my computer friends I talk to say its a really good deal on a really good computer, so as long as it works, Im happy!

You will be able to tell a big difference with 2 extra GB

ive been running windows 7 for about 3 weeks - it seems to run a little faster than vista and has a lot of the same extras that xp did not have...

i think windows 7 will do a lot for microsoft as far as getting over vista is concerned...

i used vista at work for 2 years and never had a problem - people who say an operating system sucks, or a certain brand of computer gets slow over time, just don't know how to take care of a computer....

for the average computer user, for example, a college student who will surf the internet and write the occasional term paper - there is no really good reason to justify spending an extra $1000-$1500 on a mac....

Bottom line, Macs are way better, just not as cheap.

bottom line is dell, hp, mac, compaq, etc all use the exact same hardware - only difference is mac operating systems use the hardware more efficiently than windows does...

if mac were less expensive, they would probably have control of the computer market like windows does....

but, with the hardware available today - a brand new dell right out of the box is going to run just as good as a mac right out of the box....

Everyone on here is sort of right. Jason said it best when he said that for your average user who just surfs the net, writes a few papers here and there, and doesn't have $1000 disposable income, PC's are a much better choice.

But after 2 months, there is a noticeable difference in the speed of a Mac vs. a PC. And that's even if you just go to major, trustworthy websites, don't open suspicious emails, and do regular daily/weekly maintenance to your PC.

If you're going to spend $1000 anyways, you're far better off with a Mac. Otherwise, a PC will do most anything the average person needs, it'll just require much more maintenance than a Mac.

I got a Dell XPS laptop with all the bells and whistles. Cost 3k. Has Blue Ray etc. Its way faster than my 2 Macs but that is cause I got it loaded. But the Macs sure are nice.
