Your report was excellent, thanks for the info. It's amazing that 6 of the top ten are still alive. The polls were very acurate.

And....3 out of 4 of the teams that were eliminated were beaten by top 10 teams on that list. Pretty darn accurate.

Thanks 3 A Hunter, this is good info! The polls were very accurate this year. Texas High School football is the best!

I'm thinking that Marlin should be in there somewhere.

The AP poll seldom comes so close to actual results. It is quite possible that the #1 and #3 teams will play for the D1 championship, and the #2 and #4 teams will play for the D2 championship.

I'd say it's very possible.

Another thing to consider is that Marlin was ranked AP #3 in the preseason and the only reason they slipped is because they lost 4 games... these losses were to tough teams though that they weren't necessarily expected to win i dont think. here's preseason:
1. Burnet (#1 all year)
2. Everman (defending D1 champs)
3. Marlin (playing regional rematch with Bellville this friday night)
4. Bellville
5. Midland Greenwood (state finalist last year)
6. Forney
7. Jasper (lost to Burnet last year, playing them again this week)
8. La Grange
t9. Canyon
t9. Decatur

I dont know anything about the last 2 teams.

The talking and speculation is now over. Now is when BIG PRESSURE starts being felt by the kids, the coaches, and the fans. I just have a feeling that this is the year for Burnet to finally bring home the ring. I hope I'm right. There is no question that every team remaining is a Tier I team and can beat any other team on any given day. Now the games will turn on mistakes, injuries, and maybe even on just plain old fashion luck, good or bad. Go Burnet

Well said Paintball! #1 vrs. #3, and #2 vrs. #4 would be a great way to end the season! I hope Gainesville can win their first state championship ever. Gainesville lost the state championship game in 1974, 1976 and 1976. I saw Burnet on national t.v. tonight, very good story about the team and the whole town!!! Good luck to all 3 a teams left in the GREAT state of Texas!

Gilmer beat 2 top ten teams in the first two playoff games. I would say they have definitley had the toughest playoff schedule. Another tough one Friday night against Atlanta. Should be a good one.

GO BUCKEYES!!!

bellville doesn't have a football title either. we have baseball and a buttload of volleyball championships.
