What are some things to do in the DFW area with my wife and our 5 year old girl? I'm bringing my family to see a Ranger's game (never been to the ballpark at Arlington before) and we were looking for some other things to do.

We're not really into 6 Flags but we were thinking about checking out the Dallas Zoo.

Thoughts or suggestions?

My son and daughter-in-law went to the Dallas zoo last week. They said there were several exhibits closed and they had lots of construction going on.

I have always heard the Fort Worth zoo is WAY better anyway!!!!

Go to the Ft Worth Zoo, much better. While you're there, check out the Arboretum. There is a downtown Dallas aquarium that is really nice, but a tad expensive.

Ft. Worth zoo is MUCH better than the Dallas Zoo.

While I was there this April, I also went to Log Cabin Village (http://www.logcabinvillage.org/) it was pretty cool! I don't know if you are into that kinda of stuff, but I thought it was neat. :nerd: :D

My wife has been to both zoos multiple times, and she swears by the FW one.

Fort worth Zoo is much better ... Sundance Square in Fort Worth is neat place just to walk around ... eat at Angelo's BBQ in Fort Worth ... Dallas World Aquarium is cool.

Angelo's by all means has the best brisket and ribs, but Risky's is a better family environment with great sausage and brisket that almost rivals Angelo's. I prefer Angelo's, however I don't like having to buy individual drinks. At Risky's the refills are free.:D

A fun dining experience in the DFW area is Medieval times off I-35. I think your kid would love it.

The Dallas zoo is nice. I love it. Yes there is some construction, but there always has been something being added or worked on. I also like the aquarium and the exhibits in fair park. You have to check and see which buildings are open though.

Dallas Zoo doesn't compare to the Ft Worth Zoo

For entertainment and dining, Dallas falls way short of Ft. Worth. And it you're going to the ballpark, Ft. Worth is closer anyway.

Maybe not, but our family has always enjoyed it though. We've gone once or twice a year since 1965. It's never been a bad way to spend a few hours for us.

For $12 per adult you can get a tour of the stadium. I don't remember what it cost for children. You can see everything except the lockers rooms, they aren't finished yet.

If you go to the Ballpark in Arlington on Fridays, it's 10.00 parking and 10.00 tickets plus the fireworks show after the game.

I recommend the stockyards in Fort Worth. Watch them herd some real longhorns down the street. There is a Risky's BBQ there too.

I also recommend taking the Trinity Railway Express and it's goes from Fort worth to Dallas for about 5.00 per ticket.

I'll try and post more ideas in a bit. I'm at work..lol

If you're gonna be at Dallas at any time, the Nasher Sculpture museum is really cool. Right next to the museum of art too, but the sculpture garden is more fun for the kids.

I don't know if it's still the same, but there used to be a Church in Highland Park, a Baptist Church, I think, that was incredible to visit. The foyer had fossils embedded in the walls and was absolutely gorgeous. (Maybe not your daughters' idea of a "fun time", though. ;) )

I see the Highland Baptist Church moved in '93, so it's probably not the same as it was around '72-'73.
