8. Kennedale (8-1)
9. Everman (7-2)
10. Liberty (9-0)
11. Decatur (8-1)
12. Daingerfield (8-1)
13. Newton (8-1)
14. Midland Greenwood (6-2)

Not much change this week..Kennedale drops one spot and I'm sure I'll get flack for that..but hey I can't Everman ahead of them because they beat Everman and they have a better record! And I think Everman is right where they should be at 9...

Marlin is the team that you are short changing.

Other than the top 5 or 6 teams...everyone seems to be fairly even. So no compaints here.
A little background on Decatur/Kennedale the last few years.....When our seniors were freshmen and JV we played Kennedale each year. Went 1-1, each game was who had the ball last. The thing Decatur did not have was a QB, which they now have on Dane who is a JR. So in MHO, Kennedale would probably not kill Decatur, and Decatur would probably not kill Kennedale. Edge might (I said might, not would) go to Decatur with the addition of Dane and Christian who is also a JR. As Freshman they were undefeated and slaughtered the Kennedale freshman.

i think this is the way it should be with Marlin. early in the year we were # 3 before beind destroyed in no-district. i wish we were all the way forgotten about. then people would think we fell o and we could sneak back up on them

Gatesville in my opinion is better then their 7-2 record refects. They belong close to Cuero in my humble opinion. Either right above or right below.

Okay, question: # 6 and # 7....are they really better than Jasper? Just trying to start a discussion and also wondering myself. How do their stats compare and who has a better ground/offense game?

How do their stats compare and who has a better ground/offense game? It's really hard to judge this Jasper team. They played poorly in the beginning of the season, but have come on really strong the second half. It's a good topic for debate, but the playoffs start soon. After that, who cares? :)

If you are talking about Gilmer, we will never know head-to-head since Jasper is in Div I, IIRC.

Going into last Friday's game, Gilmer was averaging 480.6 yards per game (just about even between pass and run) and that average didn't drop much, if at all, afterwards. Also averaging 44 points per game. Giving up 13. Our Achilles' heel, if we have one, is our defense. And we had a lot of trouble kicking extra points early in the season, but Cabrera the kicker is really coming into his stride now. A 51-yard field goal attempt hit the crossbar the other night after a poor snap. With a good snap, he'd have made it from 60.

The only other knock I can come up with on my own team is that we have played a weak schedule, although it didn't look weak before the season. Gladewater is usually good. Pleasant Grove started out okay and played us tougher than anyone has all year, but is going into a tailspin here at the worst possible time in the season. Wills Point is not as good as usual. 4A Pine Tree is not getting it done at all this season. Jefferson is so-so. They will make the playoffs, at least.

We play Lindale, which seems to be getting it together, this Friday night for the district crown there. As I have said before, I am concerned about a potential upset as the team will be looking ahead to the bi-district rematch with Daingerfield.
