Music has been a great topic here for some time. I love Classical music and grew up listening to many great albums, mainly on vinyl. I would have to say my favorite would be Russian Fireworks Volume 1.
Click here for a sample of this timeless classic: Procession of the Sardar (http://excerpts.contentreserve.com/FormatType-30/0992-1/099825-RussianFireworks.wma)
Your media player will open and play this sample. It should be safe to play.
This year my son's middle school orchestra played pieces from Fantasia while they played the corresponding video piece on a projector. It was fun to watch and see the kids enjoy their music!
What are some of your favorites?:)

I'm not sure about albums, but I attended the final performance of the season for the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra a couple of months ago. The featured musician was Dame Evelyn Glennie, a world renowned solo percussionist. She took center stage for Concierto for Percussion and was brilliant. Not bad for a musician almost completely deaf!

I really started to think I was "un-cultured"...
until I read yalls responses(not Blastoderm lol).:p
Did one of you at least listen to the sample?:(

I didn't because I'm listening to something else, but I'll get to it. For my money, its hard to beat a good piece from Wagner.

I didn't!! I am posting in my bedroom and my husband is asleep...I think being awoken by classical music wouldn't go over too well!!

Anyway....the question was what are some of your favorites.....I have no favorites!!

Is the William Tell Overture considered "Classical music?"

Oh yeah......I probably am "uncultured"...but that's alright by me too!!!

Any album with Andre Rieu and his own orchestra. A mix of pop and classical, and what a showman! The ladies like his looks, too.

This made me choke on a girl scout cookie.

I don't really care for orchestra music all that much, but I did like the one that the guy played when he sychronized his christmas lights on his house. Darn, it was the Austrian somethin or another.

Styx played a live concert with the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra a few years back. It was quite good. I don't know if you would count that but it's as close to a orchestra that I will get. Although I did go out and buy the Star Wars soundtrack when in high school. It made a BIG impression on all my peers.........

I don't normally listen to symphony unless it's with a good opera.
