How to remember how to spell dessert and desert

Dessert= spelled with two "s" because you want to have dessert twice

Desert= spelled with one "s" because you only want to walk thru the desert once.

I hope you can take this with you the rest of your life and use it when neccessary.

If I woulda gotten Valedictorian, that was gonna be the sum of my speach. Unfortunatly my 72 total four year average got beat out by someone that had like a 99 or 100. Bastid.

I learned that in 5th grade too, but we learned "dessert" had the double 's' in it and that stood for "sweet stuff"

I sympathize with you but your teacher was wrong.
