Go USA!

For those who don't watch soccer, a victory today would be similar to the US beating Russia in hockey in the 80's (even if its not happening in the Olympics).

I don't know if I would go that far but it would be a really good win

I disagree CelinaCatFan. We are not in the middle of a cold war with Brazil.

I am talking about the significance of the victory for the sport.

In soccer, this would be our victory over soccer's most historically dominant team (Brazil). Just like that victory against the Soviets, in hockey, was our most important victory against hockey's most dominant team (Russia).

looks like Brazil scored at will in the second half.

Brazil dominated pretty much the entire match. USA got one goal on a redirect, and the other on a break away. The rest of the match the USA goalie was making amazing saves because it was in their territory 95% of the time.

Tale of two halfs. US was all over the place in the first half, challenging passes and making great runs. Just lost steam late in the second. Couldn't keep possession or anything going in the second half. Great effort. Certainly this tournament was something to be proud of and a big boost for expectations heading back there next summer.
