Gilmer WILL be the one you have to take out to win the title.

Do you realize that Gilmer lost in playoffs to the eventual state champion in '03 (Quarterfinals - Atlanta), '06 (Bi-District - Liberty-Eylau), '07 (Finals - Liberty Hill), '08 (Quarterfinals - Carthage), and won in all in '04? The only year a loss wasn't to the eventual state champion in that span was in '05 (Area - Canton).

 Hmmmmm, you could definitely be right... Hopefully, we will not have that dubious distinction this year.

I know it puts a large target on the Buckeyes but I know the path to a State Championship goes through Gilmer. THIS YEAR and most years in the past.

And the Canton game was the 4th highest scoring playoff game, any class or division in the history of Texas Football. This program is getting to the historical (or hysterical) level in my humble opinion.

No offense, but I don't think Giddings is that good to be ranked as high as number 2?

Although they got to the semis...they were beatable. They struggled with a RGV team in Rio Hondo 42-28...and barely beat a talented team in Bellville 21-20.

You just said they "Beat a Talented team in Bellville". And every team on these list are beatable

Buckeye, what's your explanation for #14?

Because I think I'm like most people that participate in the top 25's on here, and am really only concerned with the order for the top 6-7 teams. I don't really know much about every team on the list, so they just sorta fall where they fall. No offense to the Cougars intended. Y'all are now number 8! Good??

I stand by my previous post

You WILL have to take Gilmer out to get to the State Championship

Just because they had a little early season gitters....that means
nothing.

Give them a little time. They went in with HUGH expectations on their shoulders. Trying to live up to that is overwhelming for a bunch of young kids.

This first showing was probably the best thing that could have happened to them. It will make them work harder and get them grounded.

I just want to see how good we'd be with some size! It's not like we would ever see them on the defensive line though. A defensive tackle at Gilmer has a better shot at being a defensive back in college than a defensive lineman! :D

Well as long as we're dreaming let's put a few pounds on your neighbors down here. I don't know how we grow em so small.

You are probably right. I didn't do a top 25 this year because I know I would have ended up leaving out somebody top 15 quality. La Grange is on the cusp of something great, and district will be their chance to show it.

Too much "homerism" to get an accurate poll on here!

As one poster stated, not a lot of love for Lavega. The Massey Ratings had them at #7 last week. Burkburnett defeated Sweetwater 14-0. I know Wimberley has high expectations, but they will have to show me they deserve to be ranked with the elite teams.

Crap....I think I left LH off my list. I also think this week at Navasota will make or break Bellville. I suspect they are getting just a little too much love. I think they're good, but I don't think they're elite this year. Time will tell. Perhaps they prove me wrong on Fri.
