again with the way overboard Carthage love....without that QB and that absolute MONSTER of a RB they won't be as good...

Rix that RB was by far THE BEST I have ever seen on a field with Celina....I saw the kid at Snyder....I saw some great guys on Liberty Hill beat us in the finals....I saw some great players ON the Celina team play RB thru the years....I saw several great D1 players on the Gilmer team a few years back......NONE were as good as that Carthage kid - huge and FAST....too bad he had no shot to qualify, but if he can get thru Juco and makes his 3 years out of hs while stayin healthy, he could be seen on Sundays....all this love to say, had he not been there, Celina would have won that game....

without that RB Carthage will just be a team....

he went to TCU or a JUCO?

he signed with TCU....conflicting stories have also reported he also signed with Kilgore to do his Juco stint....he went to California with his dad as a junior and his credits did not transfer properly, so combine that with weak grades and poor test scores and the need for summer school just to get graduating credits and you see why he did not get more interest....if he had the grades he would have been going to USC....word lately was that he got his test scores up a bit, but he still needs the summer grades to be quite high to have a chance, and then he might struggle with actual college level classwork if he gets in...

his other issue was his total lack of involvement in the passing game....when Carthage was passing the ball, most times Smith was on the sidelines....that means he was not much of a threat as a receiver or a blocker, which is bad in D1 ball....

he is an incredible talent...I hope he stays clean and we can watch him on Sundays in a few years....he really was that good....I taped the game on tv that day and man it is amazing to see that kid turn the corner and run off like the defense was standing still....

I saw him beat Giddings. He's a hoss, but he had a great line and QB surrounding him. But I agree, he's the best RB I've seen on any HS team.

As we know, Carthage also beat Giddings for the baseball state title. BUT, G-town is only graduating 2 seniors and the baseball team should be the team to beat next year if they hold together healthy.

Silsbee would beat #37 Coldspring every time and twice on Sunday. They have never lost to that bunch and this year's Silsbee team would keep that tradition going.

You are a wealth of knowledge about this kid!!!!

Talking to his high school coaches, it was never a problem with his scores only the credits because of the transfer. They say he is quite a bright kid. They also said that his test score was fine.

When talking to TCU they said that he qualified just fine. That his test score was qualifying level in February. Just had to make up Credits lost in the transfer process.
