District 24 has 4 teams in the top 10 (Rockdale #6, Navasota #8, Cameron #9 & Caldwell #10)...... Interesting to see how the season plays out.

I can't see 5 teams from 17AAA in the top 25 of the region. If so Region 3 is down this year. I can see 3 at the most, maybe only 2.

The region is down a little this year.

normally the middle of the region has a little more meat to it

you also have to remember that there are only 7 districts now (and 170 teams total the last few years), so the top 25 is more than half of the region

IMO people are overrating Mexia because of how they played Gilmer last year I wouldnt be suprised to see them take a big step back this year hope Im wrong though.

I do. Chapel Hill is always loaded with great athletes every year. It'll come down to them and Gladewater. CH has more numbers than Gladewater (or sping hill). I think they get the 3rd spot and go big school.

I really haven't thought that they are being rated really high. Texas Football had them at 19, which I think is a good place for them. They'll be pretty dynamic on the offensive side of the ball. It will come down to how they do defensively.

Yeah, you said that. I'm wondering how 6 weeks before 2-a-days a region is "down".

Region 3 has pretty much a consensus three teams ranked in every top 10 poll that's come out so far (Gilmer, Carthage and WO-S).... #1, 2 and 3 in DCTF and all three top 10 in the Coaches poll. I wouldn't call that "down"

I agree, WOS87. I also believe that Silsbee will be better this year than they were last year. They still may lose in the second round, but I think they will be a better team. They will be better than Coldspring, that's for sure.

I will give you that Region III has a lot to live up to given that in the past 3 seasons it has generated 3 State Champs (Liberty Hill x 2 and Carthage) and 3 State Finalists (Waco La Vega, Robinson, and China Spring). Given the quality of teams in the region this coming season I only see more of the same.

for the same reason most people correctly identify region 2 is weaker than 1 or 3 in most recent seasons, even before the season starts.

Having three teams in the top 5 of every poll (including my rankings) is a sign of quality, not quantity. Last year two Region II teams played in state championship games. Does that mean that Region II is better than Region I as a whole? Of course not-nobody would've argued that.

What i am saying is that (from early indications, just like every other prediction) Region III seems more on the level of 1 and 2 this year, rather than more depth in years past (although with the re-alignment the balance was already upset).

Given that such a generalization is only as radical as any other prediction, i am much more interested in how the hometown fans (especially like you) see your teams faring this upcoming season (especially Liberty Hill)

Not projecting but one year at a time: I see Region III smoking them all again is Baseball and Football. They have half a dozen prime teams in each sport for this next season. Balance may come later but not this next year.
