View Full Version : It's summertime--could we discuss Baseball 3A teams prospects next season?

I will kick it off on one of the teams I am quite familiar with--Bridge City's Cardinals.

They return their Pitching Aces from a District Champ & Semi-Final Regional run.
Senior Pitching will be dominated by Celeb Kellogg and Matt Hicks.
Junior Zoch has pitched a lot as a Soph.

Sophomores are loaded with Cameron Dishon and Zach Smith leading the pack.
(Smith has an unusual talent in that he is an accurate Pitcher with both arms.)

They have several Freshman with proven Travel ball experience coming to fill the mound if needed.

It is unusual for a team to return their pitching that reached a # two rating at one point during the late season.

WOULD YOU PLEASE GIVE A RUN-DOWN ON YOUR TEAMS' PROSPECTS FOR NEXT YEAR ON THIS THREAD.....THANK YOU

Hey OC,

Jasper was rather young this year and will bring back a veteran staff and most all of its pitchers.

Just hope that Carthage kid that beat them 3 times graduated.

Jasper should return strong in 2010 season. They did well being so young.
Carthage had a hauss alright: I will try to find out if he graduated.

Spring Hill had a big ole 6 4" boy that made up a lot of their Offense also. He had been recruited from one of Longviews 5A schools a while back to play 3A--he graduated. When he pitched the second game, Bridge City's Kellogg beat him 4-3, however.
Kellogg pitched a picture-perfect game and got the hit to win the game. Matt Hicks went 11 straight innings only to lose by one run in the first game. Carthage took them out in the next round--Carthage has been good ever since they dropped from 4A.

Carthage and Hudson will both be strong again; just as Jasper and maybe Rusk in that District, don't you think?

To Trojan: I like the town of West. I had two Great Nephews that played a lot of sports sometime back for West. Nick & Sam Harrington were really good baseball players.

What kind of help do you have coming up to beef up your team for another run?

Ah yes, the Harringtons. Those were some ball players. Anyway, can't remember exactly what the j.v. did, but they had a winning record, and the freshmen only lost one game, so we have some good players coming up. We should make another solid run.

Kyle Mueller- 1st Team Pitcher
Grant Jackson- 1st Team Outfield

Can't imagine them being too good next year, sadly enough.

OF is just down the road from me and will only lose one player facing next seasons run.
Two Junior All State boys are back as Seniors--Jacob Felts, a solid Catcher; .471 & Jace Statum a fleet Out Fielder; .462:
Coach Bennett won 23 games last year.
Chase Angelle is a good Pitcher and 1st base player. A strong DH will again be Quinton Evans.
Zach Peevey I believe was the only grad at 2nd base. He had replaced POSSUM LAFLUER at 2nd base from the year before.
AN ASIDE; IT SEEMS THAT EVERY SCHOOL HAS A KID NAMED 'POSSUM' DOWN HERE.
DOES YOUR SCHOOL ALWAYS HAVE A POSSUM ALSO?

Anyway, back to the subject at hand--OF went to the Quarterfinals only to meet their mortal District enemy Bridge City (winner of their District) and get snuffed out in two good ballgames.
They are loaded with skilled returnees and will be hard to take down again this season with their potent skill-base and good Coaching. Look for them to again be a rated team from a very strong District setting.

snyder has a lot coming back! i want to say only 2 senior starters will leave and our pitching staff will be pretty deep. that is if everyone plays! i have heard there are lots of problems with coach and kids and some are not planning on showing up next year. i hope not tho i hate when kids dont play because of a coach!
