I have 2 cd drives on my computer. They read a CD perfectly fine, but if I try to play a music CD or a book on either drive it sounds warbled.

The speakers are fine, they sound great on everything else but this.

I have cleaned both the CD drives....is there anything else for me to try?

If I have several different types of media players on here and they are ALL doing the same thing.....would that still be it??

How many CD drives? If you have two, try it in the second and see if maybe the drive could be bad? I'm not sure, but if the CD drive has a rubber belt that spins the drive, maybe that is slipping? You'd have to take apart the drive to find that out.

I guess one is a CD drive and the other is a DVD drive...but you can play a CD in either one of them......they are BOTH doing it!!

Have you tried to rip it to your player? If you rip it to your player, the CD drive doesn't have to turn a certain speed.

Take the discs out of both drives
Save anything you are working on.
Do a normal "shut down"
Wait about 1 min after the PC powers down.
Hit the power button and let it boot up.
Try your CD in a drive.

The correct answer is: secure yourself a Mac. :D :p

I did...and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner.

Hope you are well RM.

Don't feel bad, Mom, our system is down at work......has been for most of the week. I can't see my desk for all of the paperwork piling up. Sometimes, I hate computers, too!

Try updating your audio drivers and see if that helps
