Wife took me to his concert last night at Bass Hall. For a 78 year old he's not to bad

Good ol' George.

Here is my George Jones concert experience. Go to see him in Austin in 1979 or so. Small place about 2,000 folks. George walks out to a stool on stage. He needs assistance getting to the stool. He starts singing, then coughing, then he pukes! They come out and take him off stage. The lights come up and the concert is over. Somebody yells no refunds! All hell breaks loose.
Good ol' George.

Here's mine from 1965. Concert was in Lubbock, TX. George comes out having a problem walking straight. Sings about 5 song, all the time flirting with college girls sitting up close. Says he needs to take a break. Never comes back. End of concert, no refunds.

I guess happiness was Lubbock Texas in his rearview mirror, and he was ready to get happy. :D

I love the mans music, but I know he did that a lot back in the day. He's been sober for many years now though, and I've seen interviews where he states how he regrets what he did in those days.
Man what a great voice!

The "Red Mustache's" son played guitar for George for many years. About 5 years ago, we got to sit on stage at the Chili Fest in Snook. George did have his problems in the past, but can't argue about him being a true legend in country music.

No he didn't.

He said if the radio stations quit playing all the cheating and drinking songs then he'll be out of a job...lol

It's kind of hard to believe, but Ricky is very shy. He used to play with Daryle Singletary. My friend's aunt was the fan club president, so we got to work at their booth during Fan Fair.

George's drummer & road manger is Bobby (the drummer with the pony tail). Very nice people, always treated us good.

Saw him back in middle 80s at Gilley's Place in Pasadena on New Years Eve night with Sylvia

It was a live broadcast TV show with Tom Wopat as guest host

Georges walks in from side door of Gilleys

He's wobblign with escorts and makes through the show but slurs his lyrics

Heard him at Fort Bend County Fair in Rosenberg about 11 years ago

He was late but put on a good show and seemed sober.

I have just about all of his lps on Vinyls and tons of mp3s on my computer

My mother-in-law danced with George at some little joint in Conroe back in the mid 60's. My father-in-law had been out of town and didn't want to go (too tired) ..still get's pissed when she brings it up. We all think it's funny:D
