Pharmaceutical/Medical Device Sales??

Has anyone ever looked in to these? They say they pay pretty well... but sounds kinda too good to be true

I personally hate this profession. Doctors should prescribe drugs because they are appropriate and they work, not because they are wined and dined by sales people. Just seems silly and unnecessary to me...;)

It's a cut throat business.

You have to knock on 400 doors, maybe get to talk to 20 people and get maybe one sale from that.

Pharma sales? No way... Almost all the big companies are downsizing now (firing people right and left--whatever you want to call it). The draconian 'Pharma Guidelines' that went into effect at the first of the year have stopped all of the 'wining & dining'. A rep cannot take a doctor to lunch, leave him (or her) a coffee cup/free pen/note pad/anything... all of that stuff is a thing of the past. All they can do now is bring samples and try to detail the docs on the drugs. The repercussions? Docs have decided they don't want to see 20 or more drug reps per day and hear the same product details every week from a 'team' of reps for each company. So, many docs are seriously limiting access... companies are laying off and it is slowly going back to something closer to the way it was 20 years ago--each company had one or two reps that came around every few weeks. Much better honestly...
