Sweet! Brownwood is no where in sight! While the Brownwood haters are are patting themselves on the back, the Lions will be getting stronger.:D I expect the lions will win many more games this year.;)

Once again WO-S makes the top 5 but isn't even ranked in the top 2 in their region.

I know it's a LONG way off but judging from these rankings if Jasper and Chapel Hill miss the playoffs then Gilmer and Carthage will both go DI and play each other in the 1st round.

That's the best case scenario for WO-S, otherwise we would potentially be facing #1 in the 3rd Round and #2 in the 4th Round.

Hmmmm after Studying the rankings, since Carthage don't have the reincarnation of Tony Dorset this year they become beatable, and Just probably are rated a BIT HIGH

Monahans should be higher.

My thoughts exactly, Red. Honestly, I don't know if the Bulls are a Top 25 team at the start of the season.

I don't really care where the Bulls are as long as we beat Sweetwater sometime, somewhere...:D

I had a feeling just the other day that Wimberley was going to be salty, but I didn't know DC thought so too.

Also, Giddings and Bellville being 6 and 7..... Nice! Looks like 26 will rule Reg 4 again in football.

And, here's to hoping my neighbors in Angleton bring home the bacon in 4A.

They have a LEGIT qb, he was only a soph last year and he should only be that much better.

AND, Cuero at #9? I have a feeling Trent Jackson and Tyler Arndt are going to lead them to atleast the semi's.

Silsbee will give WOS all they can handle for that district title. Silsbee will make the playoffs and be the DI rep.

I think Chapel Hill and Jasper make the playoffs sending Gilmer and Carthage to DII with WOS.

It is very possible for Gilmer to go big school. All that is needed is for Chapel Hill not the make the playoffs.

Could be wrong about this but I dont think I am. The last time Brownwood started the season unranked, we ended up playing in the 4A D1 Semis. I love were we are. I am a homer but I am telling ya, Brownwood is going to be really good this year.

Why not?
Returning All-State QB with plenty of experienced WRs. OL is bigger than last years.

More puzzling is LaVega . They lost their QB, RB, WR and most of their of their OL They don't have a lot to replace those guys.

From what I remember that had a legit freshman RB last year. They were really young last year. Should be legit this year form what I hear.

I agree. How could Paris could be listed at number 14 and Argyle not in the top 25. I was at the Argyle v Paris playoff game last year and Argyle thumped them. In fact, I thought that Argyle could have scored as many as they wanted to. I doubt much has changed this year.

I meant why aren't they even in the top 10. Just based on tradition alone, they should be accorded that level of respect, unless the coach left or something.

It's a preseason poll that means nothing. Liberty Hill is right were they need to be. We lost a lot of players and will have a lot to prove with the new starters and players.

I'm just guessing, but it seems to me that they're looking more at who we lost to graduation, since we have no starters returning from our SC teams. At this point, 13 is good and a) it puts the target on others :D and b) gives the kids some (more) motivation. Besides, it's not even July, so at this point, rankings mean diddly squat. ;)

I'm glad this is not college football and that it's high school because year round rankings mean diddly squat. A nice ranking won't win you any games and luckly we get to play it out. Win and you are in.

While it is nice to get recognition, I don't put any stock in rankings. The only thing that matters is the FINAL rankings. I'd much rather be not ranked and win it all than to be ranked #1 and not win it all, but if you're ranked #1 and DO win it all that would be the icing on the cake.:D

Bullaholic

IMO, rankings are a major catalyst in sparking discussion on the forums. Of course, we all know that there is no 1 correct or more valued opinion than any other, and almost everyone gives in to "homerism" when discussing their team's ranking. Again, it is not the accuracy of the rankings which is important, but rather the discussions---informed or no-clue, intelligent or idiotic--- that we all love to read and then cuss and discuss.

I think were gonna be good but #5 is pushing it i think. Our team is still gonna be young and unproven but we have one of the best runningbacks in the state but he is still only gonna be a sophmore. We'll see but im suprised by being ranked that high.
