I just heard the storm that has halted the baseball game between Andrews and Carthage is headed to Austin and probably Round Rock. There was a tornado that touched down in Liberty Hill...I hope everyone is O.K. LHPM?

Any one have more info?

She hasn't investigated yet, but she hasn't heard of any injuries, etc. There was some wind damage, obviously.

dang, I saw on the 6pm news that a "cell" of bad weather was headed towards Austin area from the NW - guess that would be the Liberty Hill area.. HOpe it was just a little wind damage and no one's homes were damaged.

My mother lives in south Austin and called for me to check the weather. Her power was out and there was hail outside.

JOhnny just got off the phone with his "lady friend" who's in Austin at orientation (I think) anyway - she said it's very scary right now.. Sure hope everyone is OK.

Not a picture I took, got it from the news station, but I did see this Tornado/Funnel cloud from where I was at at about 8:00PMish.. Was a pretty large rotation with this.. I couldn't tell if it were on the ground or not from my vantage point.. Would have been towards Cedar Park on 1431.

The pic was taken tonight in Cedar Park from some apartments. I'm not 100% sure where, the time would have been approx 7:50 - 8:00PM

Got a few big thunders that scared the crap out of Taylor and our 2 cats.. but thats it.. Wish we would get just a little rain from it.

Hopefully everybody is ok and the damage is small.

I haven't been outside yet to investigate. Some of the rotating strong winds were very close to where one of the boys was "waiting it out". There was a couple of minutes that I was pretty concerned with the sounds I heard from the wind. I went into the other room and realized lhpd was watching "Band of Brothers" and it was coming from the tv. I know Burnet got hit pretty bad with the wind. At least we didn't get the bad hail here like a few weeks ago.

And oh yay! The forecast for today is "frizz alert"!.  Between the 94% humidity and the headset at work, my hair should be particularly lovely by 8:30!

We were on our way home to Liberty Hill from Austin when this storm hit. We were heading up 183 (North). We noticed a truck on the side of the road with a weather vane extended and a guy taking pictures. My wife asked what he was doing. We then realized he was a storm chaser. As we looked out to the right we saw the funnel cloud. The hail started coming down pretty heavy at that point. Pretty scary.

We got home and the house was fine. Our patio furniture was blown out to the yard and the dog was traumatized. It could have been much worse.

glad all yall are ok. We got hit with 80 mph straight line winds in Celina other nite. Trees down and stuff. But no body hurt. I was on the porch just watchin stuff blow down the street. Skeered my little guys tho. They thought it was a tornado.

Meteorologists this morning said so far there have been no signs of an actual tornado hitting. A lot of clouds came down, but there was no rotation in them.

That being said, straight line winds in northwest area (Liberty Hill, Bertram, Burnet, etc) were ranging anywhere from 80-110mph, with hail being a bit bigger than quarters!

I live just south of Lake Austin (Lady Bird Lake) in town, and we got nothing more than a heavy rain and loud lightning. Fun to watch with all of the lightning.
