We've all heard the old stereotypes about players from various Regions or areas or the state. Let's examine some of these stereotypes.

O.k. boys and girls--this one has got real potential to provide some good debate, but please remember to refrain from mentioning player's names, and especially hitting race very hard.

1. East Texas has the fastest and toughest players.

2. West Texas teams don't throw much and are "old school".

3. North Texas teams are all rich kids from boom towns.

4. South Texas players are not very big.

More?

looks pretty accurate to me...although you forgot to mention S. TX teams lack speed to go along w/ being undersized. :D

OK, What about teams in Houston or those just below Houston?

Would you consider them East ?

Where do South Texas teams start? I say Corpus area

Have we ever figured out what geographical region that Cuero is in? Just wondering?

LOL 4x100 we were thinking along the same lines

Fairly accurate, although west Texas is drastically changing it's perception all starting with Texas Tech's wide open throwing style, and all the high schools in that part of the state with spread offenses.

I was shocked that San Antonio considers itself South Texas but they do.
The Corpus Christi area is the Coastal Bend.
Don't forget about fajita tacos in this area Bulla.:D

What about Central Texas, i.e. Liberty Hill, Giddings, etc? Just good hard-nosed football with not a great deal of passing?

Our problems in the 90s was always ENOUGH speed. We matched anyone in the state with size, but very few matched La Marque's speed. Hell the DE I pulled against my sr year was the anchor leg of the 4x100 lmao.

There were a couple of those games where we clearly overpowered them but their speed was the ultimate difference maker.

It seems to go in cycles.....too many contributing factors to really put a finger on what causes the cycles.....no ONE thing.....economy ups and downs....development of certain area, the shirnking and dying off of other areas.....i.e. the oil boom towns.....in the mid to late 80s when the Odessa/Midland area oil fields were booming.....so were their teams.....when the towns began to dry up...so did the teams...etc. etc. etc. It comes and goes w/ the times.....hell...in 10 or 15 years...we may be saying the same thing about Regs. II or III. Who knows.

The same way that Liberty Hill (NW of Austin for those geographically challenged) and Burnet (West of LH) and Llano (West of Burnet) spent many years in Region 4 in 3A. It's called Realignment.
