HOUSTON- Nederland pushed the Brenham baseball team to the limit, but the Cubs responded with an 8-to-6 win to earn their 14th ticket to the State Baseball Tournament.

The two-run decision at Rice's Reckling Park clinched the Class 4A Region 3 title series, 2-1.


Brenham will play at Round Rock's Dell Diamond Wednesday.

The Cubs will learn their opponent and game time Sunday.

The Bulldogs beat the Cubs, 8-6, earlier Saturday afternoon to force the winner-take-all third game.

Brenham fell behind Needville 8-to-0 in the afternoon game before rallying to make it close.
