Both teams had trouble throwing strikes. First, Bellville struggled, then Giddings struggled in the 7th. Bellville was taking a strike from the 5th inning on, and Giddings couldnt find the plate. Looked like when the Bellville pitcher was in the stretch, especially with a batter showing bunt he had trouble. Lots of fans and lots of nerves im sure. good luck to both teams on Sat.

It was what we all expected. Both pitchers pitched a better game than people would think. They both went through some rough spells, but the umpire (EXTREMELY CONSISTENT TO BOTH SIDES) would not call a low strike for anything. I can only think of one pitch that was called a strike where I thought it could have been borderline low. He was not calling the low strike at all. Both pitchers kept going down there for ball after ball.

Great crowd, full bleachers, people standing in the stadium, and a couple hundred on the hill by the tracks out in left field. Park was a good atmosphere.

Buffs defense helped them out tremendously and my prayers were answered with only one passed ball for Rush.

Atmosphere was electric and Bellville's red side of the stands was something to see. Great place to have that kind of a game but parking and bathrooms were not adequate for the crowd. Thank you to the two Bellville girls who let me cut in the bathroom line.

Happy graduation to all our seniors, Buffs and Bulls, and see ya @ Olsen Field.

Pitch by Pitch. Buffs, Let's Find a Way to Win.

One bad inning for the Bellville pitcher was the deciding factor, both pitchers battled all night, but Giddings came up with two big double plays to halt the Bellville attack. Congratulations Buffs on a hard fought win. Backs are to the wall, Bellville will need to bonce back on Saturday. Good luck Brahmas! It ain't over until the fat guy gets naked (inside joke). :D

Buffs are clicking at the right time.

I talked to Brenham's coach Long before the game and he said that the stadium would hold 1,100. Attendance was not announced, but it had to be over 1,200. There were no empty seats and people were standing three deep around the dugouts. Great atmosphere for a game. One bad inning for Bellville was the difference. Three walks, a hit batter and three hits led to five Giddings runs. Heads up Brahmas, its not over. Good luck on Saturday!!!

You're right about that...every team that I have picked to win in the playoffs this season has lost. My prediction for Saturday is that Bellville will win Game 2 in a rout, and then Game 3 will go into extra innings. I won't say who will win, though!

First time that I have watched Giddings, very good team that only has 2 Sr's. Top pitcher throws very hard and does a good job of throwing his breaking stuff for strikes. Very tuff when he gets ahead in the count and does a great job of finishing off the batters in that situation. Defense looked exceptional and they did a good job of turning the double plays. Buffs have a good shot at doing something special this year, but should be even more dangerous next season.

Don't count out the Brahmas just yet, they will fight until the end. Take it one game at a time, win the first game and the series is back even at 1-1.

We struggled at the plate when it came to clutch hits last night... i thought we were gonna be able to pull out a W when hackbar was at the plate with the bases juiced and no outs... god my heart was pounding. great job giddings on taking advantage on our mistakes! thats how baseball is played!! helluva game buffs, its gonna be a dogfight saturday!!

P.S. TO ALL BELLVILLE FANS, LETS TRY AND CHEER THE ENTIRE GAME, INSTEAD OF WHEN WE NEED THREE RUNS IN THE TOP OF 7... WHEN WE CAN HAVE SOME MOTIVATION FROM THE OLD FOLKS, CHILLS GO DOWN THE SPINE, AND CRAZY THINGS JUST MIGHT HAPPEN!! AMAZING CROWD LAST NIGHT!!

Hackbar got the single, but we were hoping for something bigger. Give him credit, he got down in the count and had to be more protective at the plate. Hopefully, the top of the order can do a better job of setting the table. Not much production after Hack, except for Gremmel.

very much agreed. no one was patient at the plate to go with the pitch or take a nice easy swing. they saw the 320 and 360 and swung for the dinger! bellvile will come back with a fight! promise!

by the way, kudos to the bellville fans, that was the best I had seen you act during any baseball game towards the umpires. I am trying to decide whether you were changed by my joking comments over the past week; or if the extra 500 more fans than I am use to seeing you with dulled the 2 or 5 crazies.:D

Kmock is not a hard thrower but can be tough to get a solid hit off him if he gets the hitters chasing his outside pitch. He makes you hit the ball and the defense takes care of the rest. If Bellville can get some of those hits to find a hole or fall in they could jump out early to a good lead.(getting ahead of the buffs hasnt been a good thing lately)

Good luck, was thinking of going but woke up late!
