Sorry, man! I guess I got carried away with the pictoral history. I got married 12-1/2 years ago, didn't really have a honeymoon, had a daughter about 9 months later, had another daughter about 3 years after that, then started living the happiest life anyone could wish for. I can honestly say that with the passing years, and lots of on-the-job training, I've become a good, trained husband and an even better father. That imperative to a happy marriage.........being a trainable husband, and a good daddy.:D

....And really there's only ONE word for that........AWESOME!! I can honestly say I've never been happier!! In some people's eyes, I'm living a fairy tale.....;)

If we make it till June 22 this will be our 25th anniversary. I assume that the gay in the title means the old meaning of happy and not the meaning it became in the 70s.

Yes Phil. My wife's middle name is Gay but then again she was born in 196*... *OUCH OUCH OUCH*
I suddenly see stars and a big lump on my head and don't know why?:vrycnfsd:

Congratulations Phil and all you good married folks who consider your marriage a Happy one. 55 votes and over 63% of you now have a Happy Marriage! Incredible! Kudos to you!
.
Denise and I celebrated our 15th Anniversary this last April 16th.:)
.
I'm not quite 40 and do realize that my definition of a Happy Marriage IS NOT what I thought of when I first got married. It's better! Once I got past "myself" and she "herself" then everything has become much easier. Some of that came from going back to our roots in Christianity(and faith in GOD). Some of it came from me realizing that when I stopped dating her, I stopped trying. She deserves that I never stop trying since that first day when I popped the big question and she said "Yes!". You tend to lose sight of those early days... when at a bridal show, at the Bayfront Convention Center before our big day, we kissed on the steps and several passing bystanders didn't say "get a room", but instead said "You look so much in love". That is a special moment for me and I know that is a special moment for her.
When kids come, the relationship changes and it is easy to blame the other for not doing enough. Never forget though that you as Parents set the example for your children. They can and will use your parental relationship as a template for their own when they grow up. Never forget that.
I'd advise any couple that wants a heartfelt and successful Marriage to go to Engaged Encounter before they get married. It helped us through some hard times and gives you wisdom from couples who have been married for some time and have experienced many of the problems that divides marriages today.:)
.
I believe that all of us needs to reclaim the word "Gay". Who gave 1% of the population permission to exclusively use that word for their own ends. :(

Thanks to the initiator of this post for giving me this chance to brag a little.

Married almost 19 years and very happy. My wife is the best woman (and cook) I could have ever wanted. My two daughters just turned 16 & 13 (birthdays one day apart). Both kids are on the straight and narrow. God is good, therefore, life is good.

Going on 40 years here---married my highschool sweetheart. She is the best wife and mother that a man could ask for---has worked and handled every need of 2 kids and me during all this time. She is also a very big part in our grandchildren's lives.

Of course this is all compensated a great deal when you are married to a Tarzan-Brad Pitt clone....:D

We used to visit Aunt Gay once a year. She lived in East Texas while we were in south Texas. She made the best breakfast and was well known for it even though she could cook other meals. But breakfast was her best and was famous in the family for it.

Very good Bull. I had a classmate named Connie and she started dating her husband who was 2 years older than her. They went steady and got married right after her high school graduation. They are still married and doing well and she is the class leader in working up our five year reunions.

My situation was different. I didn't meet my wife to be until I was 31 years old. It was worth the wait. :)
