When and where? I'm not making any predictions on when and where because of some of the Bellville posters on here...

Well Robstown still has to travel down to Zapata and win 1 more game against Zapata ace in game 2 but Robstown will pitch a top notch pitcher also.

The next round doesn't have to be a 1 game series does it? The UIL bracket shows the regional semi-final games have to be completed by 5/30 so I'm guessing not, unless they haven't updated the page.

SintonFan_inAustin, give us a scouting report & your thoughts on Zapata & Robstown. We talked to some of the Zapata coaches and they said Robstown will throw a bunch of pitchers.

Michael Velasquez no hit them yesterday he's their ace with his only losses to Sinton 8-1, CC Moody 5-2 and CC Ray.

Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi would be nice, but the Bellville coach may not want to play that far away...Victoria is about halfway for each team...

If Bellville wins the flip, I would not be surprised at all to hear that this series is being played in Weimar!

With the distance between both schools, wouldn't they be more incline to play somewhere halfway at a neutral site?

Yes, per the Robstown ISD website, their high school graduation is on Friday. 3 game series starting Thursday, and a possible double header Saturday?

No game on friday night due to Robstown graduation i think it is, that poster has provided Robstown info all season. Should be a very good series, Bellville has shown its a team to be reckon with having knock off some tough opponents arleady. Robstown is Robstown, baseball town 100%

Ya footballhudini, you must really know a lot about this matchup. I would be surprised to see bellvilles ace throw anything less than a complete game shutout thursday. After blanking the #1 ranked team in state and sweeping the #6 team, your comment is just erroneous.

Both teams are good and itll be a good series

Call me crazy, but I find it highly unlikely that the "no. 3 team in the nation" would throw their ace against a 3A team. Sorry but I will respectively say that I don't believe that.

sinfan75
05-25-2009, 04:38 PM
And why would that be hard to believe especially if he's up in the rotation. Sinton's faced Calallens best pitcher before so why would it be any different with Moody.

Sinton is dominating Bandera right now in their game, so it looks like it may very well be Giddings vs. Sinton this coming weekend...

Giddings vs. Bellville or Sinton vs. Robstown matchups could be in the works for the Regional finals...

I can imagine either one of those matchups would produce standing room only audiences at those games...

Awesome baseball games will be played in the coming weeks.

Although pre-season rankings don't mean much, the Coastal Bend area is a "hotbed" for baseball. Between Robstown, Falfurrias, Calallen, Odem, Moody, Sinton and several others, the area stays fairly competative. Good talent level and several great coaches.

While I agree it's hard to believe that Sealy would help Bellville do anything, I will listen to the broadcast, since I am a sports fan and support District 25. While Bellville may be our rivals, they are representing Austin County. I have seen Bellville play, and they are the real deal, and applaud their success. Not sure about the stooping comment, seems to me K-MAC Sports is using the available resources to reach the most people, not only here in Texas, but around the world. What a great ideal, no matter what side of the Mill Creek you reside. JMHO

The Bellville folks (headed by Mike Miller, Booster Club prez, and Reese Turner) have just brought K-MAC Sports on board to broadcast the series.

Bellville/Robstown (www.kmacsports.com)

Here's our schedule:
Thursday: Game 1 - at Victoria Riverside Stadium, 7:30 p.m. (7:15 p.m. Pregame)
Crew: Jim Turnbull, Joey Schmidt (K-MAC Sports/Sealy)

Saturday: Game 2 - at Texas State, 5 p.m. (4:45 p.m. Pregame)
Game 3 - if necessary, 30 minutes after Game 2
Crew: Chuck Licata, Reese Turner

Dont forget KULM 94.1, they have been doing Bellville sports for over 20 years, Roy May and the late John Dee, now Randy Reets has the play by play.
Whats up with Reese? I thought he worked for 94.1? Sealy making money off of Bellville Sports?,
94.1 Radio will have all Games.

I have enjoyed Randy Reets and his style of broadcasting for many years. His insight and knowledge is what make his broadcast. As for Internet broadcasting it seems that the ability to reach a worldwide audience, and the fact the games can be replayed whenever, and as often as a player or parent would like makes sense. I have been told by a longtime member of 3adownlow that college recruiters are using this venue as a way to evaluate players. During a recent baseball playoff game there were listeners from Iraq, not sure if the radio signal is going to make it that far. Most larger schools have radio and internet access for their fans. I know a guy who listens to his son's football games from the deer lease via his cell phone. By the way the real deal is Brahmas in two.

I don't think bellville will get to the 4th without pitching at least five different kids. They'll have to start their cather in game 2 and he himself will be worn out from the day before having tried to catch all those overthrown balls to the plate/trying to stop them pickers from scoring.

The boys did it to show team unity....then the dads bet them that if they beat Cuero then they would follow suit.

From Corpus Christi Caller Times:

Robstown vs. Bellville

Series: Today - Game 1 in Victoria; Saturday - Games 2/3 in San Marcos

The scoop: Bellville (19-7) upset state-ranked Cuero and Sweeny to get this far. Robstown (26-7-1) has been rolling, winning all three playoff games with shutouts. The Cotton Pickers rely heavily on the starting pitching of Michael Velasquez and Ryan Velasquez.

I never said that, either. I just remember seeing Bellville in the Wharton/Bellville series, and they just did not impress me enough to where they have nearly gotten to the state tournament. Yes, Bellville won the series in 2 games, but I still can't believe they have gotten this far. They seem to be playing very good ball right now, without very little, if any, errors. Also, I think if Bellville would have played a 2 out of 3 game series with Cuero, that the outcome would have been different...

BTownVBall3
05-28-2009, 09:51 PM
Really? What about a 7 game series man..Would they have lost to Cuero in 5?

tigerfan09

Regardless of my opinions about Bellville...

Congratulations to Bellville on the win tonight. I do agree that there is going to be an all out war in San Marcos on Saturday evening.

Hey, I know I'm getting ahead of myself here, but I wouldn't mind seeing a Giddings/Bellville showdown in the Region IV final...

dude, that statement is just wrong. i believe not in rankings, but a teams heart and skill level. the gobblers may have been ranked 1st, but until you get to the state tournment, well then they will give us some credit. still have not won the series with r-town yet. they will be pumped and ready to go on sat, so bellville better be ready. love my brahmas, and coach cerny is one of the best in the state. that man will have the bulls ready on sat., believe me. go brahmas, and enjoy the ride, don't whine after a big win...

MJMbrahmas10
05-28-2009, 10:22 PM
well it does mean something when the other team only had one lose before....and yes the brahmas do have alot of heart and have clutch performers....coach cerny is a wonderful coach in baseball and in football he has a streak that is 5 or 6 years of not losing a freshman football game
