If anyone has any info/updates on the Sweeny softball team (doubleheader tonight), let us know, please.

As many know, Sweeny baseball coach Scott Carter's daughter (Candice) is a junior on the team..if we can keep those updates going, it'd be much appreciated.

Congrats to the Sweeny softball team, and Candyce Carter...

And if Candyce is ANYTHING like her dad (Scot), then she's an outstanding student-athlete...

Scott Carter, coach of the Sweeny baseball team, is ONE CLASS ACT! I met Scott for the first time last night when I went to get the pre-game interview for the broadcast of the Bellville/Sweeny game, and he was nothing short of nice, polite, talkative, informative....all around, a GREAT guy!

We even chatted about some non-baseball stuff, too...

Scott Carter is very proud of his roots in the Sweeny community..very much a family man, too, because he asked me to track down his daughter's team's progress...talked about his wife..and was very complimentary of his ball players.

You folks in Sweeny have a top-notch coach and man in Scott Carter, your baseball program is in GREAT hands!

I've been doing this 24 years and I'm happy to say I met Scott Carter...and I hope to see him - and the Bulldogs - down the road..

Coach Carter has another daughter as well that he is very proud of, Chelsea. She graduated from Texas A&M in 2 1/2 years. She was also a very good athlete that concentrated on Basketball.

Congrats to the Sweeny Bulldogs on a great season.

Congrats to Lyford on an excellent season 26-9. They are very young; only 1 Senior. I was very impressed with them last night. They have a bright future ahead.

Congrats to Sweeny, maybe you can be another R3 reject that wins a R4 championship. :)

Looks like we will be playing Needville for the region championship. They are leading Sinton 4-0 in 5th. Needville leads series 1-0.

I would say the R3 rejects have done very well in R4....4 of the final 8 teams in baseball were 25 and 26 with D26 moving on....

and softball...final two in Region from D26....

classy post. Lyford is a solid club and their pitcher is just a soph. Good luck rest of the way Sweeny!

In talking to Coach Carter of Sweeny last night...

He confirmed the site for the Sweeny/Needville Region 4 softball series had yet to be determined as of last night @ 8:40 p.m. The coaches hope to get that done today.
