Van coach is an ID 10 T. Was on staff with me last year, every coach in the district hated him.

He is a little high strung. I'd be willing to bet he's toned it down some since comming to Van. I hear he has acted the fool a couple times. If he's going to stay he'll have to keep it under control or he won't last long. Our AD won't put up with it. Having said that though the girls are scoring more runs than they have in the past and we've had some very good teams recently. The girls have bought in to what he's doing and are playing well. Good team chemistry and it's hard to argue with 32-0.

Also, the Van coach has done a good job of marketing. I find it hard to believe this USA Today Top 25

Well, Van has to get through Collin County (Prosper, Celina, Princeton) to make it to state.

As long as they keep winning he will be there. Winning is the thing.

It's his first year in Van. If he doesn't act like he's from Van he won't be around regardless of his record. Our AD has put his eggs in the character above all else basket (which is a good thing).

The USA Today uses the NFCA rankings which Coach Roberts is a committee member. The Van girls are playing lights out and have a great team, but they are getting national recognition due to the fact he is who he is.

Just a little reminder from the rules:

At 3A Downlow, we also tend to frown upon posts that attack the integrity of school systems and coaches.

Thanks for the info, that makes sense now. I do hope the Van girls get it done this year though. They have been so close.
