Don't have the final score but Needville rallied late in the game, scoring several runs (6 maybe??) to win.

Sorry I was listening to Cuero/Bellville and only half heard the phone call report. Needville advances to play Giddings Thurs/Fri @ 7pm in Columbus.

Surprising!!!!!!

This whole night has been like this.

Number 1 in Baseball and Number 3 in Softball lose so far tonight. What's next?

Sweeny played East Bernard in a softball warmup and won 1-0. Good Luck to Repka at Baylor.

LG had many LOB...in the double digits. They had opprotunities and couldn't get it done. Great season Lady Leps and best of luck to Needville.

Baseball

Blue Jays 7
Marion 3

Needville was down 3-1 in the second and then scored six runs in the 2nd to take the lead.

While that version sounds great that is not how it happened. Needville jumped on Marion early scoring 6 in the second. In that inning Hajdik reached on a strike out and after a Janke ground out the 7, 8, and 9 hitters all reached base for the Jays. Then the top of the order brought them around. Marion put up a 2 spot in the 4th and 1 run in the 5th. Needville added a run in the 6th to secure the win. Hajdik went the distance and looked good tonight. Jordan Littlefield of Marion pitched an outstanding for the Bulldogs.

Add a couple of HUA's for LG in running the bases and 11 LOB, adds up to a dissappointing end of the season. Needville overall was the better hitting team, took advantage of most all opportunities. To make it to the State Tournament you not only need to be good but you also need to have some breaks. Also until you've been their (State Tournament)you really don't know what it takes to get their, total committment and work your butt off.

Some weird situations coming up this year that I have not seen in the past. That needville/lagrange sounds similar to what happened to Yoakum except as bad as they played at the plate and as bad as they played in the field, they still had 9 and 10 hits each game and left 14/15 on base. there was every opportunity for them to get back in each game just could not seize it. I really thought la grange was the best in our region this year I have watched Sweeny and Needville play before the swine flu and I thought it would be La Grange and Yoakum in the finals. Congrats on Sweeney and Needville taking advantage of there time off.

Also, wanted to get peoples opinion here I have heard from some friends of mine that some teams during the swine break played other teams in there district in scrimmages with no umpires and kids drove to the field?

As long as coaches aren't there coaching and it is NOT mandatory, then I don't think it is a violation.
