Serious question. What's the purpose of a CB radio? It seems to be just a walkie-talkie that truckers use to talk to each other on, but I'm sure there's a more serious purpose or use for it, right?

I would think they have lots of uses other than to "chat". My guess would be things like door assignments at shippers and receivers, traffic and weather reports, police reports, and I'm sure they are used for political and religious arguments, just like a message board.:D

Citizens Band Radio was around many years before the 1970's when truckers, smoky and the bandit, and C.W. McCall made them famous.
Industrial shipping warehouses use CB to communicate between workers and shippers, lots of farmers use them in their tractors and combines, I know several cops and deputies that use them along with some state troopers, motorists still use them, and of course pretty much all truckers use them.
My handle has been and still is Goat Roper.
