Go to one of the Wal-marts and you can apply at one and check every wal mart in the area instead of doing it 20 times.

I don't know of any specific jobs in the Austin area. However, I can tell you that all jobs pay more in that area. Take for example most labor jobs pay $10-$12 an hour in most parts of Texas. In Austin you can easily make $20 an hour doing the same thing. Of course the cost of living is much more. Look on the bright side, you can go to more UT sporting events.

Hmm...

I'd say check Lowes, Walmart, Home Depot, etc.

Also, if you want to do that stuff downtown, figure out who the building management companies are (www.downtownaustin.com), and see if they have any loading workings needed.

If all else fails, google temp agencies austin. I know there's a couple that specialize in day labor type of things.

I haven't seen anything to substantiate these numbers! $20 an hr. for unskilled labor ain't happening!

I work in South Austin, just 2 miles south on the Capital. There are a lot of businesses around (71 and Congress AVE to be exact). I would print lots of copies of your resume and just drive around the area. You should find something you like. Also try craig's list.
