PLEASE PASS THIS INFO ON TO ANY 2009 UNSIGNED SOFTBALL PLAYERS.........

I had the opportunity to visit with coach Marie Stone of Our Lady of the Lake University (San Antonio TX) this past Saturday 5-2-2009.

OLLU is starting a softball program in the fall of 2009. The team will compete as a member of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) in the Red River Athletic Conference. They have already been approved, and accepted, into the Conference, and will officially compete in the 2009-2010 season.

Coach Stone was hired as the first Head Coach in school history on last Wednesday (4/29/09), so things are happening quickly to get the program started! She was formerly an Assistant coach at Hill College in Hillsboro TX ('08-'09) and Reinhardt College in Waleska GA ('07-'08). She got her Masters in Sports Administration from Texas Woman's University and her Bachelors in Exercise Science from Texas Wesleyan University. Coach Stone competed as a pitcher for 1 year at Paris JC, 1 year at Southern Arkansas University, and finished her softball career at Texas Wesleyan. She is originally from Pittsburg, Texas.

Since coach Stone has just filled her position, the new program is WAY behind schedule in recruiting players for the future, especially for their inaugural season. She is currently scouting UNSIGNED 2009 GRADS with strong academics, as well as any transfer players. This would be an EXCELLENT opportunity to get into an athletic program and help build it for the future!

IF YOU ARE AN UNSIGNED 2009 GRAD AND ARE INTERESTED - Contact coach Stone directly (see below). Please have the following info available :
- High School GPA
- High School class rank
- SAT scores and dates
- ACT scores and dates
- High School softball stats (if available)
- Travel ball team, coach's contact info, and stats

Thanks for the help, guys and gals!

As with the post from Old Cardinal about the Lamar SC-PA tryout - If just ONE GIRL gets to continue her education, through athletics, that might not otherwise, we have made a difference .......

ONE last time,

and then

I'll let it die a

slow

painful

non-football

death

as it slides down the board

into 3ADL obscurity,

one day

at a time.......... j/k :D

 Thanks for the help, everyone. And if you DO know a JC player or 2009 grad, PLEASE pass it on!
