Kids:

Go outside, find some dirt and roll around in it
Get the neighbor kids together and...
First, play a game of football in the front yard (use driveways as endzones)
Second, play a game of baseball in the front yard (use trees, mailboxes, etc... as bases)
Third, ride your bikes in the whole neighborhood (be sure to build a cool ramp to jump)
Fourth, if you have a wooded area nearby go explore it for a while (see if you can catch some wild animals)
Go home and eat dinner
Do your homework
Go to bed

Adults:

Go to work
Come home
Enjoy a cold beverage of your choice
Check to see if the kids need an extra player or help building a ramp
Holler for the kids to come home
Eat dinner
Watch TV
Go to bed

If anyone gets sick, go to the doctor (not work or school)

Enjoy life

I miss being a kid! Summer vacation was the best. Played outside from the time we got up until it was too dark to play anymore! On the days it rained, we stayed in and played all sorts of board games or made up our silly games.

Realizing that each family is different and the flu may have differing effects on each family below are some alternatives to the above mentioned activities:

Kids

Building a fort
Playing a pick up game of basketball
Running around with no purpose at all
Trying to catch bugs
If it rains...board games are acceptable; however, playing in the rain is also encouraged

Adults

Sleeping with your spouse

----------------------------------

Please use good judgment when choosing which activities to replace with alternate activities.

Kids, it is not recommended to replace playing football with any of the above mentioned alternatives.

Adults, it is recommended that watching TV be the most often replaced activity.

That sounds like my childhood! We would go out into the woods and built forts. When it rained, we would play in it, and catch "crawdeads" in the little brooks in the neighborhood.

Dang, the good ol' days.............where'd they go?:dispntd:

If we had at 6 to 10 of us, we played wiffle ball ... with the big, plastic "Fat Albert" bat
If we had at least a dozen, we played real baseball ...
If we had only four or five, we played pickle
Once we got tired of that, we could play grounders and flies (or some called it "500")

Sometimes just ride our bikes ...

Sometimes play "Smear the Queer"

We could dig up worms and go fishing

Make a fort

Dig a pit and cook a burger

Go exploring ...

I could go on and on ... BUT, we never had:

--Play that was "organized" by our mothers
--Select sports teams
--Virtual games (except Stratego Baseball)
--Mothers who didn't shoo us out of the house when the weather was nice
--A cell phone to call mom (we knew when we were supposed to be home)
--
