View Full Version : Ranking the NFL starting QBs

Ok...another thread has sparked at least some debate, so let's open it up in its own thread. Rate the guys you expect to be starting for the NFL teams next year from 1-32 (use your best judgment when rating the QB for the Lions or Bucs for example). Then, when we've had a bunch of responsed, we can tally the points up on a reverse scale to see where the collective 3A Downlow rates the current starting QBs. If this turns into a hit, maybe we can do it for other positions in the NFL as well. Don't rate someone low just because you don't like them (i.e..."I hate Tom Brady, so he's 25th!")...try to think about the task honestly!

Here's my list:

1. Tom Brady
2. Peyton Manning
3. Drew Brees
4. Tony Romo (completion % has risen every year; turnovers inflated last year by fumbles after broken pinkie)
5. Philip Rivers
6. Kurt Warner
7. Ben Roethlisberger (has two rings thanks largely to defense, but outside of one monster year, has been pedestrian.)
8. Jay Cutler
9. Donovan McNabb (health is a perennial question)
10. Eli Manning (had a great 11-month run; has largely disappointed before and after)
11. Aaron Rodgers
12. Matt Ryan
13. Carson Palmer (health has really brought him down...if healthy, easily moves up)
14. Matt Hasselback
15. Joe Flacco
16. David Garrard
17. Jake Delhomme
18. Matt Cassell (we'll see how he fares without Moss and Welker)
19. Jason Campbell
20. Marc Bulger (hasn't seemed nearly as good without Martz)
21. Matt Schaub
22. Brady Quinn
23. Chad Pennington
24. Byron Leftwich
25. Mark Sanchez (rookies rarely fare well; last year two did, so I expect fate to go the other way this year)
26. Matthew Stafford
27. Sage Rosenfels
28. Kerry Collins
29. Trent Edwards
30. Shaun Hill
31. Kyle Orton
32. JaMarcus Russell

Matthew Stafford is not currently a starter in the NFL. Daunte
Culpepper is. I know the chances are good Stafford will be by
week 1. But he has even seen the field yet. How can he be
ranked higher than QB's that have?

How's that for an unbiased assessment?:D
