First some background to explain why I have this thing in the middle of my backyard. Appx. 10 years ago we dug a hole and buried a 15" round pool. When the kids outgrew that, we pulled the pool out and put a trampoline in the hole.
A few years later we got a 24' round poll (that we also buried) but in the corner of the yard, (in a place that made more sense.)
The trampoline was old and torn by that time, so we filled the hole with the dirt from the new pool....well, you can imagine how much dirt we had left over from a 24' hole going into a 15' hole. It was just a big pile of dirt right in the middle of the yard.
We used the dirt for various things for a couple of years and then I day I dug into it and started making a flower bed.....and it's kinda been a project that has grown each year (except the past 2, when I was in my deciding phase of where I wanted to go with it.)
Here is a pic from appx 4-5 years ago, this was taken in the middle of the summer.

Here is what it looks like today. No flowers have been planted, because the hubby wants to spray roundup (on a day when it isn't windy..HAHAHAHA) so I have to wait to plant flowers. But....I was able to plant some stuff toward the back of the pond, since no grass has ever grown there.
It is still a work in progress....but I am still proud of it. We are definitely two amateurs and the only money I spent on this was the pump and what little plants I have planted.
Here is where we are at so far, I was hoping to take the pics before the sun started setting so there wouldn't be any shade....but I didn't make it in time.

I will be glad to get some color in there......and I don't know if you can tell from these pictures how much it goes uphill toward the back of the pond.
And...here is my little garden friend aka my umbrella holder......I have affectionately named him "Kepfrawg"
:D :D
