Does anyone know if Randy Palmer has gotten a job anywhere and does anyone know how to get in touch with him?

Palmer files grievance

Poteet athletic director counters with grievance filed Friday.

POTEET – Nearly two weeks after Randy Palmer was voted out as Poteet ISD Athletic Director, the bewildered coach filed a grievance on Friday.

Palmer, in his first year as a head football coach and athletic director, was given reasons as to the sway of votes by the Poteet school board’s 5-2 decision to oust him on March 23.

He filed a grievance that was faxed to the Poteet ISD office on Friday. The offices were closed then and on Monday in light of the annual Poteet Strawberry Festival celebration.

“Nothing seems right,” said Palmer by phone on Monday. “It still makes no sense to me.”

Some of the reasons the trustees voted Palmer out was his failure to get tutoring for student athletes with troubles. Palmer stated, “tutoring was offered after progress reports were released.”

Another reason was the reassigning of a high school football coach to the middle school. Then, the coach later filed a grievance against Palmer.

Also, Palmer was slammed for the use of a baseball field for football practice and also his failure to suppress students in support of him after the board’s preliminary vote on February 23 to not renew his contract.

The reasons were translated to Palmer by interim superintendent Tim Coyle. Coyle was passing the statement along from board president Mike McIntyre.

Supporters for Palmer filed for an open records letter from the Superintendents office to find any wrong-doing in his tenure as head coach/athletic director. His records were clear and nothing had been filed.

The grievance process must go through Poteet High School Principal Andres Castillo then through the superintendent before it goes before the Poteet ISD School Board.
