View Full Version : Favorite Sandwich?

We've talked the world situation and a little sports lately, so I thought it was time for another food thread....
What's your favorite sandwich? Here's my personal ranking of the regular sandwich meats:
1. Roast beef
2. Bologna
3. Ham
4. Turkey
5. Chicken
There is just something blue-collar and American about fresh bread, mayo, and a big hunk of bologna. I remember back in the old days when travelling with my family, we would find a roadside park and break out the bread and bologna on butcher paper. Sure was good then---still is.....
Some of my restaurant favs....
Monte Cristo
CFS sandwich
Oyster po-boy
Shrimp po-boy

Would a hamburger be considered a sandwich?

Technically it is, but we had "best burger" threads in the past, but if you want to offer one up in this thread---fire away---you never know what will cause a fellow poster to be moved to post and that's the idea---it's more fun for everybody when I see more folks who are on "replying" instead of "viewing". We need everybody to exercise their fingers more....

If there is a better sandwich than one made with smoked ham, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion, I'm not aware of it! :)
Tried tongue once, no thanks on that.

I love a good Rueben Sandwich ;)
Regular, everyday sandwich would be Ham and Swiss on Rye with Hellman's -

Mustard or mayo, or both? Any sandwich is DOA unless the bread is soft and very fresh.

I'll stick to sandwiches then.
.
1. BOLT- Bacon, Onion, Lettuce and Tomato
2. Open-face toasted sandwich- any combo of meats and cheeses with tomatoes and onions toasted open faced in the oven for 8-10 minutes.
3. Rueben- there's a place in Fredericksburg that makes really good ones.
4. Roast Beef
5. Thanksgiving sandwich- Left over turkey, dressing and cranberry on toast
.
I'm with you on the oyster poor boy. It's hard to beat one of those with large fried oysters serving as the La Viande...

Man, y'all are making me hungry! I could really go for an open-faced roast beef sandwich on Texas toast right now, with a side order of freshly cut fries, and an ice-cold Pepsi right now! Or I could go for a good 'ol old-fashioned Patty Melt with sautee'd onions with fries and a Pepsi........dang, did I mention I was hungry?

Ain't nuttin' wrong with a good 'ol P&B! Well, except that peanut butter has been tainted lately, and I'm still a little leery about eating it.:(

The oven-baked chicken ranch and parmesan chicken sandwiches at Dominos are the best I've had.

Hands down, an old fashioned BLT is my fav.
But I usually eat peppered turkey with mustard these days. Not nearly as tasty, but I might live a little longer.;)

do you like your bread toasted or not? On a BLT - I prefer lightly toasted and cut into 4 sections (like a club sandwich)

Hot off the grill brisket with white wonder bread, my dad's own bbq sauce, wrapped in wax paper (just for old times sake), and a pickle (choice of beverage would be a Big Red with crushed ice).
Yummy!:D

Yes! The commissary on base brought them in for a OTB (One time buy), and they sold out in hours! I met a few folks from Texas that were buying it. My son loves it, but I just wish it didn't have so much darn sugar in it. I do bring home a 12 pack every now and then!
The commissary is now stocking Big Red full time!! Now if we could just get a Whataburger over here!

Perfection!
And I like a slice of bread in the middle to, just like a club. All 3 have to be toasted as well. And a good helping of Miracle Whip is a must. Has to be Miracle Whip though, Mayo simply will not do!
