Big defensive battle. The Mustangs' offense sputtered at times all night, but the defense always seemed to be there to bail them out. I was very impressed by the way the defense handled Luling's large running back (Elroy Steen). They constantly bottled him up in the backfield before he had a chance to get going. Luling had a chance to score going into halftime, but Manor had a big interception on the goal line. Everytime the D's back was against the wall someone came up with a big play. The Mustangs also made numerous 4th down stops in the second half. Overall I would rate the Defensive effort an A. Offensive C. Offense did just enough to win the game, but it's going to take a better effort to get past La Grange in 2 weeks.
