No Argyle threw 155 and didn't make the cut.

There were four 3 A throwers at the Texas Relays. Only Baillio, Whitesboro qualified for finals and he won it throwing 202 - 11 which is the Meet Record . He will break the Texas HS State Record for Discus (Roesler 208) at the State Meet.

The 3 A record is already toast. (Robison 203)

FYI: the National Record is 234

Jordan Roos, a freshman from Celina also competed at the Texas Relays. He has thrown past 150 this year. Has the same track club coach as the kid from Whitesboro and is supposedly throwing farther now than the Whitesoboro kid did as a freshman.

Yendry and Fortune were classmates together in the 8th grade at Edna.
That would have been a hell of a 1 2 punch in track.

I see that and do not question that he did.

My information was from 2008 UIL State Track Meet Program.

Honest question. Are distances from District, Regional and State meets the only ones that are recognized ?

For the State Meet records, those are the only ones that count. :p

I think a distance measured in an actual meet counts. However, the only ones that should count for records should probably be regional, state, texas relays, etc. Hometown meets can be a little generous.

I think any meet counts. The guy from Whitesboro's throw at the Celina meet was announced as the 5th longest in Texas History.

The question stems from various experiences over the years. Not that I have had the priviledge of throwing that far and have never seen a top flight thrower at a local meet, but what are the qualifications/certification required of the individuals running the event to make sure it is a legal throw if it is the a State Record? Was the Sector the appropriate size? Are the sector lines "in" or "out" ? Jr High Coaches with "volunteers" running events. All sorts of things that go on at a local meets. Even District meets.

I am not questioning that the boys throw that far. Just the requirements of what can be certified as a state record.
