View Full Version : The Scoop on Cameron Yoe

I was with some Cameron Yoemen recently and they were sharing their frustration about the Head Coaching Search...

The Highlights...

1 - Very secretive process, with Superintendent treating it like a CIA case...

2 - Had almost 200 applicants, and yet had a good amount of assistant coaches who got interviews for the job, when the Superintendent had publicly stated the profile for the HC/AD would be a Successful Head Coach...., which leads to...

3 - They feel the whole process was stacked to begin with the coach from Winona being the guy all along, who they feel is an underwhelming candidate...

4 - Felt like they could have made a Big Hire, but the Superintendent got in the way in making it a legitimate "Best Coach Gets Hired" search process...

This is what I remembered from the conversations...

Don't know how much is opinion vs. fact, but I guess time will tell...

that is all...

Coach Alvarez from Kirbyville was seen last night in Cameron. Don't know if he is the guy but he is in town and i'm sure he's not here on vacation.

Really Sicem? haha you crazy folk. If he couldnt win here before, i doubt he would leave North Texas to come back to 3A. That would be like Phil Jackson going to coach like Villanova. They have a chance of winning, but why lose a good thing you've already got going

Dropping to 2a wont be as easy for cameron as they think there will be some tough teams they have to face look at what has happened to marlin

Most of the people making such claims were not from those places just as the case is on this thread!

Yes and the recent example of Brownwood. But there is always the examples of Dangerfield, Tatum, Kirbyville, Mart and Chilton.

I'm gonna see if 3A downlow has investigative skills...

Dropping class always helps, besides Tatum, Kirbyville and Mart...how about Muleshoe, Everman, Copperas Cove and Longview

I heard John Wilson was coming back. Mullins and Wilson (ex-defensive coordinator 2003-2007) had several run ins with each other, resulting in Wilson resigning spring 2008.

Mike Sorenson, or the coach from Kirbyville, coach Alvarez. Those are the 2 I keep hearing from someof my Cameron connections. I'm suprised theres not much talk about this.It just seams that the yoe fans would be talking alot more about this.

I seriously doubt the Wilson back to Cameron move. Although he prolly is my favorite coach that we ever had, I just dont see them coming back to cameron

Yeah, doubt wilson will come back, from what i hear he likes it at Birdville. Plus he's never really had any success as a HC

Hey RanchRadio when are you guys going to release a list of names of who applied? That usually comes out on these type of things. I have heard a few names around but not an official list from the school.

Sounds like he will take Cameron to state with that Defensive mentality. Last time Cameron had a great Defense they went pretty far. Should be exciting!!!

This is a great hire. Cameron will be fast as always and have above average athletes. With the new coach and his style and gameplans, they will be tough immediately. I bet the people in 2A in the area are already trying to find a friend at UIL to keep Cameron out of thier district after realignment.

Cameron could very well win the district 24 race next year.

apparently Rhoades is going to bring the defensive mind back to the Yoemen, what kind of schemes does he run defensively? 4-3? 3-4? Split? 3-3-5? What are the Yoemen going to do offensively? Stick to the Shotgun Spread?

RanchRadio
04-14-2009, 09:06 AM
According to Rhoades, offensively they'll spread it out too, but, he also said they'll need to be able to run the ball some too. I would guess, that he'll be a little more multiple

Good to hear that Cameron is bringing in an ALL AROUND AD. Yes, they want a football coach to win, but very refreshing to see a person very vested in all the other sports due to his kids. Great news for all the other sports in Ctown.
